GPU requirements?

Hello,

I used to play NS1 alot so I thought I would gave this game a try. However, it seems like my laptop cant even play this at lowest setting. My laptop has HD3000 integrated graphics card that runs DX10.1. I cant even play the game under extreme low resolution and graphics setting (looks way worse than NS1 under those setting lol). Is this just a rough patch or is this game intended only for people with high end graphics card (i would be really sad if it were the latter).

A laptop with a HD3000 probably doesn't have enough power, but in any case the game is in it's current state more dependant on the CPU. Which type of GPU it exactly btw, HD3400 or higher. Anything below 38xx will be lacking 3D instructions.

An Intel C2D or Quad @ 3 Ghz or more is the bare minimum to run the current beta version of NS2 (20-30FPS in heavy combat), and this pc has to be in tip top shape to be up to the task. Drivers up to date and maximum performances is required (no bloatware present)

How do i find the exact model of the graphics?

    My CPU is I5 2520m 2.5GHz 2.5GHz

Is it likely for the developer to optimize it enough to be playable on my system when they release it?

you can type dxdiag at run in your start menu (windows key+r will also work for this)

then go to the "Display 1" tab and have a look at the name of the Device, kinda annoying Windows and Catalyst hide this information under a general series number...

Each new build has performance increases, half a year ago it was very stuttery, I guess the last 10 or so builds have seen improved
performance. Build200 has a lot of BIG hitch issues solved for lower specced PC, but somehow as a result this affect the newer rigs, who saw lower performance.

The devs have narrowed this loss down to sounds and are on it.

All it says is "Intel HD graphics family" but under features it does say directdraw, direct3D and AGP texture acceleration enabled

Ah it's the Intel one, I thought it was the AMD/Ati one. Well I'm not sure about those integrated chips and their performance. I guess they are comparable with the AMD/Ati HD5400. So it shouldn't be a problem for gaming. It's just the combination of mobile hardware that tends to use laptop drivers.

You might want to try the Intel drivers instead of the laptop drivers, they can or most likely will give you more performance... Although, as I said, I'm not up to speed on these mobile laptop deviced...

According to tomhardware's chart it has equvalent performance to:

    Discrete: 6600 GT, 6800LE, 6800 XT, 7300 GT (DDR2), 8500 GT, 9400 GT
    Go (mobile): 7600 (128-bit)
    Discrete: 9800 XT, X700 PRO, X800 GT, X800 SE, X1300 XT, X1600 PRO, HD 2400 XT, HD 4350, HD 4550, HD 5450
    Mobility: X800, 3470, HD 5470 (DDR3), HD 5430, 6300M
    Integrated: HD 6310, HD 6320
    Integrated: Intel HD Graphics 3000

How does those cards stack against current requirement?

What do you mean, you can't run the game? Do you just get really low fps or does the game refuse to run completely?

In either case, I'd forget about running ns2 well on your laptop anytime soon.
