A simple tip for skulks in the end game.

<div class="IPBDescription">Follow the onos.</div>So I have seen a few people complaining how skulks don't fare well end game. Its true, 1v1 end game fights really screw the skulks. But do you see that big 'ole onos over there? He's big and scary and has lots of health. I bet the marines are gonna shoot at him. Stay a few steps behind to avoid death by grenades aim at the onos. Once the onos has closed the gap and is in the marine's faces, make your move. The marines probably wont see you until you have you jaws around their ankles.
Smart play can compensate well for a "weak" life form.
Just my two cents. I'm sure other good options exist.

Works well, unless the marines have a nearby obs or does a scan, which they never do, of course.......
On a side note, if aliens are flush with res (i.e. 5+ RTs), then I've found some success with using cara on skulks late game. At 5 RTs, you can effectively makeup that 2 PRes in roughly 3s, so as long as you live that long, its a decent deal to gain a few extra seconds of life fighting marines.
When I'm an Onos and nobody comes to help me out I can only attack for a short while before I have to retreat.
If a gorge follows behind me and bilebombs while I'm rushing in, together we do a huge amount of damage, plus I can get healed quickly when I retreat.

Yeah its far more efficient for the onos to trash the buildings while a fade kills the rines.
that made me laugh.
your basic point is play smarter.
But it sounded like you said i have to sit around and wait for an onos.
My personal complaint is this
The marines firepower and armor scales up from upgrades.
Meanwhile it feels like the skulks abilities are stuck.
as marine the longer we stay alive getting upgrades the more i feel like a Spartan from Halo.
as skulk the longer we stay alive the more i expect to die.
Someone mentioned camouflage and that is a decent upgrade but it seems to be the only ...got to have it upgrade
As far as i can tell Carapace = 1 shot from a shotgun...which is the same if i didn't buy it.
the other upgrades are kind of nice for retrieving some health but i still run back to base regularly....so those are optional.
The lerk is a suicide run which is valuable at times but pricey.
the gorge is the gorge...he stands alone
So mid to late game...I try to cause trouble...but i am saving for fade...so I can get some real work done.
and i'm not even a great fade... i am the guy if 2 guys corner me right i am dead.
everyone wonders why a whole alien team goes fade
and the answer is ...we have to.
Following the Onos is a good way to stay alive if you're having trouble, but if you can handle yourself in combat you're free to do whatever you want.

It's near impossible to dodge in most parts of the map. Fact is marines do scale better over the course of a match then aliens. To be fair it takes more skill and practice to become competent as an alien.
Eh, Id agree that the aliens take more skill to play but i would not agree they dont scale better over the course of the match.
Fades and especially onos makes them just as hard to kill, if not harder, than late game marines.
it makes sense that a teched up marine can wreck the lowest life form..
and if you ever wish to sway the balance there are two factors: skill and teamwork. (teamwork can make up for skill, too)

You're forgetting that the Kharaa rely far more on map control for their strength/upgrades then the Frontiersmen do, as well as the difference in rez to buy weapons/ items VS. evolving into new lifeforms effectiveness has quite a large gap. The shotgun cost 20 rez and pretty much rocks from start to finish, the lerk cost 30 rez and is a complete joke in its current state. Even a marine with the LMG can still do more for the team then a skulk can in its current state. As every patch goes by it just feels like the aliens are in development hell and have no clear direction. Every life form should still be useful at any point in the game.
P.S: Some people only want to play skulk!
That happens for all fades.
If 2 shotgunners hit you once each, you are dead.

the good fades get away :-)

Thats not the point. In the marine late game, I can play only with my LMG and without spending res and I can be useful. (Because of Damage and Armor upgrades which are free for the single marine.)
As alien I have to buy every upgrade. The early game vanilla skulk has no difference to the late game vanilla skulk.
But don't get me wrong. I don't want the two teams to be symmetrical. If the carapace would scale better on the skulk, or the shotgun wouldn't be that cheap one-hit-killer or there would be a way to upgrade the skulks damage (To get a marine down with at least 3 bites) than it would be ok. But now he is very underpowered in late game.
And if you have no res to evolve into some thing better, it just isn't fun. While the free LMG marine moves up to a really good skulk-killer in late game.
If both shotgunners hit the fade, then the fade is dead. His skill won't matter.
