Natural Selection 2 3D Gaming
I know I am probably one of the only (if not the only) person who enjoys playing NS2 in 3D (with nVidia 3D vision or any other setup you might have). But, I figured I'd put this out there for any of my fellow 3D aficionados out there.
One of the most annoying problems when playing an FPS in 3D is the crosshair. The world is generated in 3D at different depths, but the crosshair is always "generated" at screen depth. Think of it like this: As you walk around in the real world there is constantly a circle plastered 1 foot in front of your face and no matter which way you look or turn your head the circle while look like it never moves but everything else you are looking at does.
nVidia 3D vision allows you to turn on a true 3D crosshair that will actually move closer or further away depending on how "deep" or "far away" the object you are currently looking at is. This is all well and good except for the fact that in most games there is no way to turn off the crosshairs in the game. Because of this, you end up having 2 crosshairs on the screen at the same time: the 3D one from nVidia, and the default one from the game.
So without further adieu I give you a simple mod to the crosshairs.dds file that effectively makes them all disappear.

The wrong lighting makes me feel sick after like 5 minutes, it's unplayable in 3D for me :(.

Same for me, 3d, last time i checked has lighting issues that are very disorienting. THanks for the crosshair anyways!
Lighting can be turned off, too (r_mode unlit, to turn back on r_mode lit). However this will kill the atmosphere which kind of doing the opposite of why you would play in 3D in the first place. Anyway, I consider using this command online cheating as it's no longer possible to hide in the dark. (currently we have a script running on our server that prevents you from using this).
I design and build 3D educational lessons for Academy's and Schools in England and Wales.
One thing we have noticed with our environments is they can appear dark due to the active glasses (especially the 3D Vision active glasses)
The glasses tend to tint the image by about 30-40%.
Natural Selection 2 is already a dark game (to create the atmosphere of course), and you may struggle to play dark multi player environments comfortably.
An in game brightness or gamma adjustment would be nice too, is there a console command for it?
Map levels are not compiled, all lights are dynamic, as far as I believe. Turning off all lights might be a problem!
