That was a pretty nicely done summation in the snippet. Some good video clips too.
Here's my imagined internal dialog of some not knowing about NS2 watching it. Gunfire (Hey look an FPS shooting aliens) Commander (Oh its a RTS...but what were the shooting bits) Skulk dropping to Bite marines (WTF....do I get to do that?)
I kind of want NS2 to be laying low till all the main bugs are fixed and its closer to release. I mean don't get me wrong, I want NS2 to be as massive as possible but if we get a surge of new/average players they will not tolerate the current status of the game like most of us do.

In the end it's all good I guess...<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Did you even play Bf3 Alpha&Beta? Horrible ... A Nightmare... it suckd! I think people can "Adapt" the "status" of this game.

I don't think the comparison is valid, and as long as NS2's performance is in the gutter, it may be best not to advertise it to the general public.

I played the beta and had almost no trouble with it, which was impressive since its a game with a massive scale, albeit made by a larger team...
The point is NS2 is nowhere near the polishedness required for even a public beta, its still missing game features and the performance is, while playable, unacceptable.
As of now, NS2 runs average on high end systems... I've got a mid range core i7/6870 combo and when there's a lot of action my framerate gets killed, while BF3 is buttery smooth.
Again, you are comparing apples to oranges, but if you were to make the NS2 beta public today you would get more negative than positive press.

Those people do not realize the indie roots of NS, and haven't been following the development closely enough to realize that UWE is a small team and that even though they are working their asses off, progress is not as fast as you would get from a 50+ person team. They will proceed to pre order the game and probably demand a refund because of the bugs and what not.
I think people are a bit reluctant to spread the news among the general public until the game has the level of polish it will eventually get. First impression and everything.

It was cool reading all those comments with NS2-love, but always a little shocking to see how many people don't know about our existence!<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> Heh, well it's not like you guys are actively promoting the game currently and also hiding behind Steam beta so Valve doesn't really promote NS2 either. I say hide a bit more, we need more polish before the masses are ready for it I guess.
I wish it were otherwise, but y'all are an indie studio with no real advertising budget and a target market of 6.x billion people. There are roughly 1,000,000,000 times more people who are potential targets for this game than there are people making it. That you're getting press coverage simply means you've got a product which is far enough along and entertaining-looking such that people are looking forwards to it.
Please tell me that free licenses have gone to the gametrailers people, among others :D

BF3 still sucks.
Wise words.
