That's a common gamma problem when running ns on newer operating systems like Vista. I doubt there will be an update to fix this but you can help yourself using this command:
cl_gammaramp "0"
If this doens't work, try using the gammaramp program.
The "cl_gammaramp 0" fix does work. As it solved the problem with me. Only thing is the screen gets darker. One thing you can do is to up the brightness and contrast on your monitor. The most effective way of dealing with the gamma issue once you've entered that command into the console (press <b>`</b>) is to use your graphic card's control panel. Mine is Nvidia and I up the gamma on that. I thought it worth a bump as new players/returning players might not know what to do.
