Hi guys,
Me and my brothers got this game, love it. We played NS1, just kind of found it by accident. I don't really remember any of the details but it was so different for us. We really can't wait for the finished product.
I know this might sound dumb but I am having trouble finding basic information about the game online. Simple things like what does a shade do? All we know is it makes it really hard to see once you get next to one lol. Is there anywhere online with all of the basic information on the game? Like an instruction manual?
Also, are there any good guides for commanding alien and marine? I might be missing them but it seems there should be guides stickied to the top of the forum. For that matter there doesn't seem to be a strategy forum at all.
If someone can point me in the right direction that would be great, if there is one. I would like to educate myself so I don't ruin peoples games. I have asked specifically about the shade in game but got no response. I imagine it makes you invisible or something but I don't know for sure.

It's just a few topics below your own.

Then I would suggest you to go watch some NS2HD to give you an idea about how the game mechanics work.

The Shade is an alien tech chamber, if you build one, your hive will be called "Shade Hive".
The Crag is also an alien tech chamber, and to get both of them, you need two hives.
Later on the aliens will also get another chamber that's going to be called a "Shift".
The Shift will hold upgrades for alien movement.
The Shade allows you to research Camouflage, which makes you invisible when you don't move, when you're invisible you can move, very slowly(hold shift to prevent breaking the invisibility).
Then the Shade also have an activated ability, which is called Cloak, that makes everything alien(players & structures) in an AoE around the Shade invisible for x amount of time. This also counters the marines scan, which I suppose is just a bug. And players can move at normal speed while invisible.
The triggered ability is considered overpowered, and will most likely be replaced with another ability.
Last I saw about that was the text "Shade Ink ability", don't ask me what it does.
Hope this awnsers your questions.
Thanks again!
Also watching some competetive games might help you to learn insights of the game.
Here are two youtube channels to get started:

Already learned a ton since this post. I will be able to start answering all of my brothers questions next time we play.
