After some further internal discussion, door gameplay design is getting reworked again. Now the plan is that doors are going to start off closed at all times (but not locked), not be tied to power, but can still be temp locked to prep for welding using the keypad. The temp lock will only be a few seconds, though, so shouldn't really be that useful for keeping aliens out, unless you can really time it perfectly, but since the door is closed, you won't be able to see them unless you are going through the door, then you;d have to back up and get over to the keypad and use it before the alien gets there, to get that few seconds of locking time, which in most cases won't be too useful.
