If the ground is angled, or it's a moving surface or if the floor is just funny (i.e. the kind of floor that
alien towers would sink into), then the mine will autotrigger after a few seconds.

maybe you placed it in a wrong (parhaps moving) place

Nope. on a clear floor, with nothing around it for meters. happens everytime to me when i place a tripmine

I've encountered that as well. Very curious as to what causes it. Typically I place all mine on the floor. Not sure if that makes a difference.

if u place a mine on the floor there is no red laser coming out of it.. thats weird.. and yes, they do explode sometimes!

I've also had it happen a few times. I find that if I place it while running it doesn't explode until it's supposed to.

Still, I'm not sure. Try it out.

Actually mines are supposed to do this. On the wall you have to break the laser to set them off. But on the floor they have to be stepped on. The advantage is that they are harder to see. However if the alien sees them, they can easily walk around them. Also, when the mine is on the ground, a marine can step on it and it won't go off.

I tried to place them whilst running, and it worked. even managed to blow some fade's back to their hive as well . thnx for the tip.

Basically you have to give them enough room which sought of is annoying as u have to place them in more obvious places, but is funny when u watch smurfs go pop, sorry aliens

I was trying to place a mine, and it was like "bleep bleep bleep". And then, it just like exploded in my face and I was like "HNNGH?".
