Well I was thinking, maybe a Machine Pistol? I mean heck, it'd make taking care of OP Skulks alot easier. You run out of clip in the Assault Rifle, switch to MP, unload the entire clip in like a second, and destroyed.

It only takes a one line server variable modification to make the pistol fire full-auto. The pistols in TF2 are all "fully automatic", as they fire as long as the fire button is pressed down.
Given the current damage output of the NS2 Pistol, most of the NS2 players would tell you that a full-auto pistol is overpowered.
Although I think a "full auto" mode for the pistol, for those that prefer it, could be made. The damage in full auto mode could be reduced, and tweaked for balance.
TF2's pistols used to be semi-automatic. Then everyone started using scripts to make it fire full-automatic, wich was overpowered compared to the players without the script. Then they gave everyone full-automatic and slightly nerfed the damage (if I recall correctly).

Here's a quick server mod I whipped up. <a href="http://www.mediafire.com/?nkq83v8o46p4s7v" target="_blank">http://www.mediafire.com/?nkq83v8o46p4s7v</a>
Primary fires the Pistol in full auto mode, dealing 20 damage every 0.15 second. Secondary mode fires the pistol in semi auto (require clicking to fire each bullet), and deals 40 damage per bullet, same as in B187.
I think a machine pistol with extended clip isn't really necessary. If you run out of primary ammo, and the 10 bullets in the pistol, then I'm sorry, you're out of ammo. Ammos clips are limited in size for a reason ya know? ;)
I would prefer the current pistol to do equal damage in either fire mode. Hitting a switch on a gun and increasing how effective the rounds are is just plain stupid. Its like taking a 9mm and saying you can hit a switch to start shooting 45cal.
For the fire modes, make one full auto. quick to dump the whole magazine, wildly inaccurate. good for desperate close quarters combat. let the other be semi auto. accurate at long ranges, good for precision shooting. (how a short barreled pistol is more accurate than a long barreled rifle is a flame war that is not suited to this thread and will be ignored.)
I don't care which is the primary mode.
the main draw back I see is that auto mode may be unfair to skulks. besides, if you have a quick finger you can very quickly unload the pistol in the current design.
It kind of makes sense. It is, in fact, the future so they have technologies that "make sense" to us but don't have a full explanation for. In the primary fire mode of the pistol, it shoots rounds fast but in due price, causes the shots to be shot out with less power in order to keep up with speed. And when you select secondary fire mode, it shoots slower which gives the gun more time to load up potential energy (powder or whatever it uses) and give it a more powerful shot.
The guns in the future won't work the exact same way they do now. Maybe in the future you'll just shoot a sharpened metal shrapnel shot by some powder/spring because humans found a new way to put more power into this than the normal powder already in the bullet. :))
Now onto the real topic, if it caused the same power the gun is OP. If you know how to aim really well in this game, then the current pistol is better than the current LMG in my opinion. The only way I could see this work is if you made it do way less damage. Also 3 separate firing modes on a pistol? Dayumm
Honestly, I don't think this would be of good style (seems silly) and probably wouldn't fit into the game well. What's next? Giving marines katanas and throwing stars in thier 4th and 5th slots?

I want to dual wield the Switch-Axe and a Katana now.
Does it need to be a setting on the gun? Right-click could simply reflect what you're doing: Panicking and firing wildly at a close target. Primary fire is simply a more controlled shot.

Make the katana a vibrosword and throw in a bolt gun and I'm sold ;)
Honestly, the current pistol is absolutely fantastic<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> Back in 2011 when this was posted, skulks were maybe OP. I can't remember.
