why all being call of duty?

I loved that HUD of NS1 which shows the resource that I gain by killing upon the dead enemy body. Especially for marines. Blue '+2.0 res.' maybe?
But now what? I hope if it's still placeholder, then I appreciate it a lot.. but anyway, why yellow +5 +1 kind of stuff again that I've already seen millions of times?
Anybody complaint also about this? How do you think?
I don't wanna see COD-like kill HUD anymore. It's abused.

It stands out more and gives instant confirmation of a kill (ties in with pacing if that makes sense).
I remember in NS1 where I'd barely even notice the res gained icon, let alone pay attention to it.
If it's useful get rid of it!

the way points are they're because you should be following them, listen to your commanders orders and you will win more games than you lose.
But if you guys must have it off, I don't see why it can't be a toggleable option.

Awesome.
I personally think it is annoying. The little kill confirmation sound that you would get in NS1 is the right way to do it. The yellow COD style points thingie really doesn't fit in with the whole minimalism thing. And yes it can get in the way. And no it isn't useful; press tab if you are really butt-hurt about seeing your scores.
Yay, you did something that helped your team. Have a cookie!
I take a little bit of pride in having a high score, even when I don't have a very high kill count. It means I've been doing useful stuff.
Don't say diddly gosh-darn things like that!

togleable definitely also there is alot of stuff on the hud that needs a toggle switch to turn off and on

What?
WHAT?
I DON'T UNDERSTAND MY WORLD RIGHT NOW!
sidenote: it's they're, not there
I think every newbie can tell they're doing the right thing by hurting the opponent too. It's not like people wouldn't realize shooting is good without some score popping on their screen.
just this word toggle toggle TOGGLE thats all it needs
Marine-blue for res gained by a kill. And their current color for score.
The text could be smaller, otherwise it is quite useful to have.
Case in point. If it actually showed rfk I wouldn't mind it.
Doesn't it?
Why not change it to RFK and move points somewhere else... say maybe right next to where it shows your kill in the top right corner. So at least you can know what actions give what kind of points. Not sure where that would leave parasiting though

Well there is the small sound which played in NS1 when you killed something without the need to fill up your screen with yellow text. They do have this in NS2 atm but it plays it whenever anyone on your team gets a kill which is actually really confusing for someone who played NS1 for 8 years. I don't know if this is intentional or a bug cause getting the sound for every kill is how it would do it commander mode.
Bug
Anyway those kind of messages are still necessary for some reasons, so i hope NEW one to see soon.
oh realy? i thought the yellow kill numbers was "+points (+rfk)" or just "+points" if you killed a structure. i agree theres no need to see +points for killing structures.
anyway, this simple needs an option for both teams (alien and marine) to be optionally on and off. If you like it on on marines, check the box, but if you don't uncheck the box... if you like it on on aliens, and off on marines... CHECK THE APPROPRIATE BOXES.
as for colour... just give players a colour picker...
Also, have it on by default, it's good for newbies to get grips to what is happening for things in the game.
If I had the option, I would likely play with it off, but at the same time, I don't mind it all that much.

COD may have helped popularized it, but it didn't invent it. They use it because it gives effective, immediate, and noticeable feedback to the player. That's good game design, why you see it in many games, and why it should stay in NS2 (though tweaks and/or making it toggleable would be nice).
