Anyone ever get that wonderful feeling when Heavy Armor with HMGs arrive on the scene of a losing battle?
It's sort of like seeing tanks arrive and driving off enemy infantry about to overrun your position.
Both as a commander and as a marine I've seen this happen with the 2nd hive fight. When I was commandering, I made sure I gave the HA to those who used teamwork. The entire marine team was engaged at the 2nd hive, and the phase gate there was taken down. As the marines there were picked off one by one by skulks, lerks, and a single fade that evolved before we killed the 2nd hive, almost everyone was saying, "We're gonna lose" until they hear the Clunking of heavy armor, and three heavies round the corner blasting away at a wave of incoming skulks.
Of course, we still lost since the rest of the team started whining for equipment instead of backing up those three good soldiers holding the hive.

lol... "commandering". Intentional or not, that made me laugh .
But, yeah, the arrival of HA and advanced weaponry can really turn the tide in an apparently hopless situation.

I'm really surprised that more movies like the old Q1-style movies aren't made with demo mode..
I mean imagine a camera panning over the back of a single marine, and zooms down a long hallway to "peer" up at several hidden skulks... who on command leap down and begin a formal run up the hallway (one on each side wall, one on the floor) and one camera follows them up while another camera keeps a behind the shoulder angle on the marine as these skulks are stampeding. The marine, now obviously worked up is firing as best he can but is overrun and the cameras swerve away from the anguished screams of the now-deceased marine....
that would be wicked.. and was a first thought of mine the first time I played....it's a natural environment for a decent sci-fi movie..
i was fade, along with several others, trying to take back the satellite hive from heavy marine control. Loads of turrets, redundant TF, phase. Phase is well protected so we kill off the few defenders and start rocketing the TFs from a safe distance. Eventually they both go down and we rush in to mash the phase. Just as we get there (the comm must have been watching us approach) we see 1, 2, 3, 4, yes 5 HA/HMG pour out of the phase one after the other. Needless to say myself and the 3 fades with me got CREAMED.

Flight of the Valkyrites (or Valkyrlites or something) the one from Apocalypse Now? Thats the best assault music ever. So memorable...
