Empty Server List (have tried everything!)

I'm getting an empty server list ever since i reformatted my comp. I've made exceptions for NS2 in the firewall, opened the appropriate ports on my router, disabled the ingame overlay, reinstalled NS2, tried to connect to specific servers via the "connect *insert ip here*" command. what else can i try? i haven't seen anything else on the forums or by googling. I'd really appreciate any ideas you may have. im running vista.

Create a local server first. Then open the server browser list. It should work then.

Odd. Not sure what the problem would be.

Not sure either, but it seems common enough from all of the threads that pop up about this. I think the odd thing is that creating a local server first fixes it.

This works for most people: <a href="http://getsatisfaction.com/unknownworlds/topics/build_183_found_0_servers_finland" target="_blank">http://getsatisfaction.com/unknownworlds/t...servers_finland</a>

Client going unresponsive is a new symptom.

Well, got mine working. Went to msconfig, took off selective startup and went to normal incase I turned off something that would prevent me from making a local server. Still went unresponsive, but noticed it did so when I did anything else. Such as clicking, using another window, anything. So created server, let it sit at black screen. 10-15 minutes later it loaded the server and fixed my empty list. Guess I shouldn't be so impatient.

    Try verifying your game cache.

Go to your games list in steam, right click natural selection 2, go to properties, then local files tab, lastly click verify integrity of game cache.

For some reason i have to do this also after every single patch. I think my steam isn't recognizing that a new patch was downloaded and therefor didnt install properly.
