Authentication timeout

Hi everyone, I'm having major problems Authenticating (authentication timeout error message) on most servers. I live on the west coast of the USA. some servers that i cannot connect to: either of the armory chambers, HBZ's server, Lunixmonster, TWMF, and many others. I can connect to US west servers and Australian servers. any thoughts?

    me too, i need to restart my windows session, but 2 or 3 hours after the problem come back

    This has suddenly started happening to me as well. I can't join 80% of servers, it just times out on authentication every single time...

    I'm quite curious if people have been running into this problem before B180. I've heard a number of people are having this issue but only after B180.

    I have found if you restart Steam it works. And you are correct, it has only started happening in B180 for me.

    The first time I saw it happen was 180 as well.

    restarting your router settings fixes this problem!

    hmmm.. it happens to me on all servers if there is no connection to steam.

    Looks like any way of resetting the connection to steam (restart steam, restart router, restart windows ...) can be a possible temporary fix.

    This happens to me if I lose connection to steam and it comes back. If you ever lose connection to steam, but it comes back again, you have to restart steam to play. You need steam friends enabled.

    The important question is if this is a problem with B180, or a recent Steam update. I suspect it's a problem with Steam and not NS2.

    The wierd thing is, I totally re-installed steam and that didn't fix the problem. The sequence of events that led to the solution were this: went to steampowered.com adjusted the port settings on my router according to the steam specs (I think thats what it was. I'm not tech savvy, McGlaspie had to walk me through it) anyway, after I did that nothing worked. Steam took a complete crap. It thought i was trying to log on from a different computer and made me enter that verification code. After that I reset my router back to original settings and voila! Now everything works. So maybe from that somebody can puzzle it out.

    Probably steam issue, I was having same issue with another steam game.

    Deleting ClientRegistry.blob in /steam/ used to fix this problem.
