Good stuff indeed. Middle part on that last one is great although it's lacking props for the walls especially. Maybe you could make the upper part wider while keeping the width of the rest of the room? That would make more space for buildings. Also make something cool ouside the windows from the lower level view. The outside structure of the upper level or something. Keep it up the good work!

really liking the warp generator! that's some really good work there, its one of the things i really appreciate in a map: memorable rooms with defining props/effects/geometry. it makes things easy to remember and has that artistic appeal, like the centerpiece on a table or the frosting on a cake :)

This was my first layout for the 2nd marine tech point, the idea was that the marines can shoot
and defend from the top section, but I found it had to little space for buildings yet the room was already
fairly big itself.

Maybe I can remake this area and replace the generators with something smaller and make it more accessable
and rooming to set up base in as marine. Redo or Scrap?

I wish I was less picky ... however so far I can't see just a generator being the core of station as I
am sure there is something more intense to be fighting over, unless it was like the mother generator
of a whole massive space complex.

I really want this in the middle tech point, because in a large room the lighting and shadows
would perfect and would give the map such depth. Could it be a Stasis field generator to
protect from the station from space clutter, solar flares or asteroids?

Think for me people! :)

anti matter / matter particle accelerator

would be cool if u could add like force fields that the humans could walk though but the aliens couldnt. In till they took out the power node. Or something idk cool map tho.

What about calling the room "twin reactors"? Or "Dual Reactors"

Maybe it's just me but for something as unique as that room needs a more unique name, rather than the generic 'Reactor Room'.

Dual Energy Antimatter & Thermal Heating Generation Room (AKA DEATH Generation Room)

Doesn't make perfect sense but if anyone can switch in or out a few words, I think it would be funny to have an acronym that spells DEATH room (or something of that sort)

Ok so it's sound like dual/twin something or will do, but names can be changed easily as for
the geometry... more work.

I also have another good question to ask everyone...

Seeing Onos, Jetpack and Heavy armor are yet to be released which all are going
third tech point upgrades at this point, should only one team be able to have Third
tech point upgrades or both teams?

I know there are quite a few issues with stalemates and overall game balance at this point
, but who thinks both teams should be able to battle with full capabilities? or only one team
having the upper hand?

Let me know what you think!

I think 6.
or 5 if you make the central one really hard to defend.

I've always been a fan of 5 techpoint, it will be more interesting in terms of gameplay IMHO. Both teams are pushed towards each other if they both are @ tier 2.

2 main, 2 expansions and one center techpoint, the only flaw in this plan is the fact that marines no longer need techpoints for their tech. Which is, if you as me, a flaw in the game design at this point, especially now with their phazegates as well...
• _Thresh__Thresh_ Join Date: 2008-01-11 Member: 63385Members
yeah with marines not needing tech points, really should only be 4.

What is the 5th for otherwise?

Is there a high chance that they will be scrapping the 5 tech idea? Because I'm building my map around the 5 tech/7 rt spread offense layout.

Well currently the only reason the marines would build more Command Stations is to deny aliens having that particular hive location and even this could be arranged with the use of the Phazegate and turrets... But it might be changed back to push marines into territory control once more, because as it stands now, the rewards for territory control is much higher on the alien side...

If the tech tree is here to stay then it will -probably- move back to 4 tech points.

Just no reason for the 5th tech-point except to dilute strategic options and force hive rushing (since marines can't 'hold' hives early, they have to rush building hives).

Having the extra 'backup' tech point also draws the game out by allowing aliens a spare hive to move to, which is creating the long average game times with the current version.

/Edit: sorry for the thread hijack noname, once again, good looking early pics!
