Question about User CP - Steam ID

in NS2 General Discussion
I was looking at the Steam ID function in the User CP and wondered what it meant by "Your Valve Steam ID (format: STEAM_X:Y:ZZZZZZ). Used for rank icons (Constellation, Playtester, etc.)." Does that mean I should enter "STEAM_0:0:123456" into the field, or just the six-digit number?

    the constellation thing is done and over with. you'd donate to the mod and get the constellation icon, but needing your steam ID so it could be tracked through games.

    only in the mod. not in ns2. it shows up in the scoreboard next to the player's name and here in the forums

    That's all related to NS1, when you donated years ago you got a special icon appearing next to your name in the tab scoreboard.

    It does nothing for NS2.

    Yes, Constellation was for the NS1 mod. As of right now the only promotion that ran for NS2 was the very early pre-order bonus of a special marine skin. This promotion has already ended, too, though. I couldn't give you the source offhand, but if I remember right, the devs have said there may be more bonus opportunities in the future.

    You can leave it blank, or enter STEAM_XXXX (as per 'status' in console) - regardless, it does nothing, if you're not playing NS1.

    If it says the format is STEAM_X:Y:ZZZZZZ, you should write STEAM_0:0:123456...

    It is used to display icons above your name in NS1(scoreboard) and NS2. In NS1 there are constellation icons etc. In NS2 the only icons I've seen are PAX visitors.
