Mature Structures actually worth it

I know you get a health upgrade for mature structures. But it seems maturing a structure really doesn't make a huge difference. I think other benefits need to be tied to it. Improved attack and ability range and some graphical variations to make it look little more scary. Could put some nasty bone spikes on the whip and so on.

They will get more abilities only available to matured structure.

Crag is setup to get a Babbler upgrade and the Whip will get Bombard

Well this would be logical at least :P

Also Matured Shift -> Echo, Matured Shade -> Phantasm (most likely matured stuffs needed...)

For me it isn't even about getting new abilities, but making the current abilities better. I don't know if that makes sense, but mature structures should be a real threat. Why wouldn't a mature crag be able to spit out more umbra at a greater distance?

Mature structures gain another ability, and makes some alien upgrades available. But this isn't implemented in the game yet. This is one of those, where you just have to be patient.

One problem I do see now with matured alien structures is there is not any visual indication to denote them. So, from marine's perspective...a crag is a crag, unless they closely aim at it which is a disadvantage.

I think the existing "normal" alien structures should be a little bit smaller, and the mature versions a little bit larger from what's considered "normal" now. This would easily identify them for both the aliens and marines. It also saves UW the trouble of coming up with new art content.

... And a mature crag should heal faster/better than a young one. A mature whip should hit harder than a young one.
