Trouble connecting to custom maps

Hi folks

if I try to connect to a map, in this case tetris_b9a I get this
Map [maps/co_tetris_b9a.bsp] has incorrect BSP version (1329865020 should be 30)

so I delete the map in my folder and re download it, and it still says

Map [maps/co_tetris_b9a.bsp] has incorrect BSP version (1329865020 should be 30)
as steam tries to load



any ideas? This happens across a myriad of maps

    According to the error message, it looks like your map version differs from the server's version.

    When you re-downloaded the map did you download it off a website or off the server?

    Have you tried downloading it from a website? Because that error seems to suggest that the .bsp is corrupted (might be happening during the download).

    should I just reinstall ns?

    it was the same error that i've listed above, except with ns_takeback instead of whatever map is listed above

    said version was 20, needed 30 etc

    despite the fact that I've never had said map, and just dl'ed it from server

    nope different server as the first botched map


    it's happened across the board with alot of custom maps across different servers

    Very odd. Are you running Windows? Do you have any programs that could be doing something to incoming connections?

    I'm running xp sp2 home on my 2.66 ghz intel with 1.5 gb ram and my nvidia geforce 6200 with 128 mb (hilarious I know)


    I have comcast and it's doing some sort of weird proxy bs where it needed to use it's special comcast proxy to set up the connection but that was months ago

    however it interferes with flash update, and the "you should undo the comcast proxy" window also pops up in steam community, and in the loading steam add


    but I've disabled it I swear.... LAKSDJLA:SKJ Dcomcast

    I KNOW I HAVE THE CORRECT VERSION OF THIS MAP

    I'VE PLAYED IT MANY TIMES ON THIS INSTALL OF NS

    I don't know. Searching on Google seems to suggest it's a server-side problem, but that doesn't sound right if it happens on a lot of servers.
    Have you been able to successfully download a map from a server before?

    Have you played with any in-game download settings?

    haven't tried across other half life mods


    cl_allowdownloads is 1


    I just crashed ns downloading stuff for seige_b05 and it was a sprite that was the wrong version

    Do the corrupted maps you end up with have the same file size as actual maps?

    Have you tried starting a listen server with only yourself on it? If not even that works, it's definitively corrupt on your side.

    the thing is I've played that map on this install of ns


    so somehow it corrupted itself?


    I'm guessing I should just reinstall for easiest answer to problem

    same with stargate 6kb

    Give it a go I guess. Also try verifying Half-Life's cache while you're at it.

    beware, your HDD might be corrupting the files. have you noticed any other aberrant behaviour?

    Try running a SMART test with something like HDTune Pro.

    Or do chkdsk/r
