Well, I give up. I'm all alone it seems on the Dark Side. I do see what you mean by stupid maps and such, I do believe though map makers shouldn't be completely confined to the 'NS Mapping Guidelines'.

people lets not go overboard here. so what if someone wants to make a map thats out of character. there are tons of out of character maps in CS but there are still 2000 or so servers that are running de_dust2 at the same time. Hopefully as NS grows there will be many more maps. Most will suck but some will be great. But i know that the original maps will always be played and always be favorites. Maps don't ruin mods because there are too many people like you that will always like the more conservative ones. Trust me. NS is too good of a game to go down the sh***er.

I have no problem with fun, out-of-character maps or doing "fun stuff" to just mess around. It's just when fun maps take precendence over real maps... that's where the problem is. I've watched fun maps somehow conquer a good many Counter-Strike servers. If the maps were only played every once and a while all would be well, but... you just can't tell if that will be the case with NS. Who knows?

Also, on a slightly unrelated note, what I really dread is seeing three or four maps dominate NS servers as is commonplace on Counter-Strike servers.

Speaking of messing around for fun:
Earlier tonight on Gridlock, we did 16-player gorge, lerk, and skulk battle royals in the Viaduct Hive pit on ns_nothing. We followed that up by an FF-on marine deathmatch over the whole map. Then we did marine jetpack races on Nothing and Hera; had to touch all the hives, build one of the waiting turrets at each hive, and then return to base. It was very, very fun.

I agree, I do not want ANY map to become the de_dust of NS. I like variety and hope that there are plenty of servers with various maps running 24/7. Not 100 servers all running ns_insertnamehere all day every day.

I want to play on gridlock, it sounds like good fun. What is the i.p? Or is it private ting or always filled or something else that will stop me from playing there.

Public servers with good reputations are perpetually full. Sad but true.

Lol, I just read that thing on the secret area. The guy called it a pentagram (penta means 5) which is satanic, when the shape actually looks like the star of david (jewish). just a funny, stupid mistake that I felt like pointing out.

A Pentagram is not satanic, actually, a pentagram represents the five wounds of christ and was as symbolic as the cross until the 50s or so. and that looks nothing like the star of david exept the fact that it has 6 points, other than that...it doesnt even slightly resemble the star of david, the star of david is not encompassed in a circle. Just a couple funny, stupid mistakes I felt like pointing out.

An inverted pentagram is satanic.

Actually modern fundamentalists demonized ANY form of a pentagram some reason I dont care to research. Even though A pentagram in any form was, before being phased out, a symbol of the christian faith. Ironically enough, most Pagen religions (Whom the christians were scared to death of and saw as evil) Saw an inverted Pentagram as a sign of darkness. Anyway, I remember pointless crap...and now back to NS_Carnival!

I did the research for you. It turns out that the reason has something to do with axion and dendrite counts, resulting in a condition known as Posterial Cranial Inclusion.
