    Actually, talking about doors gave me an amusing idea about a novelty map where the floor is made entirely of doors. The goal would be for the aliens try to get to the other side. The doors start randomly as locked or unlocked, where a locked door must be connected to at least one other locked door. Doors can only be unlocked by spending the PRes of multiple marine commanders who are trying to prevent the aliens from getting to the other side. Much hilarity would ensue.

    Hm I'm running just about the same specs I'll try to run the build and see if it happens to me too. GTX 460, 4gb ddr3, Phenom 555 unlocked to 4 cores and running at 3.4ghz on win 7

    Big fps drop on particles and when fighting with aliens/marines, lots of crash and sending report not working.

    Unfortunately, after messing around in the editor a bit, I realized spark is currently missing several entities and basic entity I/O necessary to make the map work.

    does uwe receive the log files i send through the debug thingy when the game crashes? i just verified the files through steam and thought i'd give the game another try, but it still freezes and then crashes when i tab out. i send the log.txt file and the minidump file but i'm wondering if uwe is receiving it.

    played as marine this time. froze when i fired my first bullet from with the rifle. also, i think my pistol started with one less clip of ammo.

    Had a go with the new build ... and dont worry no rant or raving, for the most part is was actually pretty good.

    First the bad, ok ... the doors , and some hitching ...the hitching ( stuttering ) is frequent but lasts a lot shorter and is nearly ignorable but present.
    This is on a rig I updated the card to a GTX580 , with a 3.4 ghz CPU , 4 gigs ddr3 RAM on win7 home pre.
    Then I made a silly mistake and tried to buy a shotgun out of the armory, and the game crashed...reported submitted after I alt tabbed to find the box.

    The good is that the game ran reasonably well on TRAM, not perfectly but acceptably well pre major optimisation stage, it was playable but does need a lot of work. Sounds are great, buy that sound guy ( Brian ? ) a case of beers and give him a week off , and ban all beers from Max till the engine flys on my rig :P

    The game is shaping up more now but will there still be any intrest after soooo long ? I am a fan of NS1 , pre ordered NS 2 and even I am sort of meh on keeping up on NS 2 these days. The potential is there, but at this stage there is more empty servers on the list than active players when I check the list.

    Anyways Charlie and Co , right direction but in my uneducated opinion ... halt the new features and get the engine tuned in for now , the new stuff is cool and all but it just makes it worse when the game crashes or stutters to a grinding halt as the tick rate falls.

    Just saw indestructible marines on server. You need to suicide ur self to the com chair somehow so it leaves you 0hp. After that you cant be killed by aliens and can shoot normally.
    + YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!! doors.

    I don't know if this helps, but when I can't build with a drifter, I find I create one from a DIFFERENT hive and it works. I've also noticed a drifter created from a different Alien Comm didn't work either.

    Some places, like the node east of MS on Rockdown, wouldn't let me place at all. I don't know if that was specific to that round, or in general.

    I've been getting fairly common crashes since (at least) build 172. To the point where my crash reports now say things like "random crash again" and nothing more. Sometimes I can play for a long time and get through a game, and just eventually crash. Other times, it may not take very long for my game to crash. It seems to happen a lot when I'm evolving, but happens plenty of times when I'm not as well.

    EDIT: Also pressing F1 to submit a bug report hasn't been working at all. I dunno maybe I missed something, I don't normally hang around the forums.

    Put a random door in the middle of the RR simply for testing purposes. It doesn't have to look good, it's a test map. Do it for SCIENCE!!

    just ran my map on build 173. I had a large room with a lot of props and geometry where the frame rate was always dropping. That seemed to all but disappear this time.

    Having a rough time with this build. Constant crashing, every 5 minutes. Change lifeform => crash 95% of the time. I hope these crash reports are making it over to you UWE.

    On the other hand it seems 12 player games are somewhat playable now. Hits register more when you expect them to, which is great. Still seems like there is an incredibly long way to go on this game.

    Nice patch.
    Its fun to play NS2 Beta, really good graphic and sound!

    I just wanna report some bugs/ideas
    -On Windows XP the map "tram" causes an CTD in 1-2minutes. "rockdown" works fine, and on Win7 (same Hardware) every map runs smooth. Just had some crashes by the end of the game here and there but thats just 5-10%
    -When I load a map it takes 2minutes. But when I just change server (with same map), it only takes 40secs. Is there a way to pre-load a map? Would be a cool feature!
    Also when I change to another server with another map, the game crashes!
    -The Axe hiting sound seems a bit late to me.

    FPS are around 25-30 with AMD Athlon 2 x2 @ 3Ghz / HD6850
    When you have time, try to give the videocard more work! :D

    I tried a bit of everything I ran memtest 86 all night with no issues I crash when talking and getting out of the com chair/hive so I just stopped doing it some times when going fade but it comes up as a txt error on the reports I send. I upped the volts to my ram and I crash half as much now and I do not have a oc on my q6600 :( just in case.
    I will try prime 95 tonight but I ran all of this back in the day when I put this machine together with no issues at 3.4 now im at 2.4 #156Scottie

    See thats just it, everything worked fine (to a certain degree) until build 170, ( I am pretty sure that was the build). Now I am getting artifacts on alien structures that are built in game, like whips or crags. Before 173 it was on rine structures too but I dont see that very much anymore.

    I have sent my logs in and I hope a fix can happen soon, I hate to be hosting a server and I cant even play on it :-(

    Most times I crash out 2-3 minutes in but if I go commander on the aliens and the artifacting starts when I build structures it crashes faster.

    Hmm, I get texture errors with alien harvesters and hives with 173. I thought it was just my hardware going crazy, but glad I'm not the only one experiencing this.
