The Unseen Animations..

<div class="IPBDescription">when are they coming out dev team?</div> i have heard on the forums that their are lots more animations for all the player models, that have not yet been used...(including a chomping animation for the skulk <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->)

im just wondering, if they are already made, why have they not yet been implemented? and what version WILL they be implemented?
or am i talking complete crap? ......

    while we are talking about unused but made things; take a look at the /sprites folder and open 640ac1-s.spr, overwatch-target.spr and 640ac1.spr

    You can open them with <a href='http://www.home.no/daunty/SprView.exe' target='_blank'>this</a> program..


    whats the name of the chomping sequence? and in what model? alien1.mdl ?

    I don't care about skulk bite animations. What I'd like to see is a death animation for lerks. When they die they just kind of freeze, and you can't always tell when they die, so you end up pumping them full of more lead than is necessary.

    well there are supposably extra animations for ALL the player models...i was merely using the skulk bite animation as an example.
    there may be a lerk death animation....i find that annoying too...its the same with gorges.

    and btw, its not only the counter-strike stuff.. its all the "Defensive upgrade chamber" and "Build Resource Tower" and all those icons.. never seen those before..

    my guess is that those were the weapon sprites used for the alien gorge to build chambers before the release, with the right click menu and such. and since the right click menu is used now, then the sprites are useless

    From looking at the models for lerk, there's three deaths for each alien. Sadly, the Onos has the same death for all three. Even more sadly, the lerk has three as well, but two aren't even .. made yet. It's just one regular death, and then the other two are the lerk just sitting there. (Thus how sometimes you get a dead lerk, as opposed to a dead lerk that looks alive) So, ahem, two times out of three, you're going to get a 'live' dead lerk animation.

    If you somehow copy/paste the animations (which you can't to my knowledge...models are a compiled file, not an archive) you'd get booted by mp_consistency 1.

    If you are oldschool, you may have also noted that Quake's Death Knight had "magic cast" animations that were never included <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    I dunno if this has been mentioned before, but if you look at the titles.txt in your NS folder, you'll find a whole lot of entrys, which obviously didnt make it into the game. (eg. MenuFlamer, MenuDefMatrix, MenuCameraTower, DefectMessageToLeader, MenuPromote, MenuBuyArmorLifeSupport)

    Maybe those thingies are proof for the great plans flay & co have for NS <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->

    MenuFlamer must be flamethrower

    MeduDefMatrix must be Defensive Matrix (as in Starcraft the Science Vessel can cast this on units)

    MenuCameraTower may be some Camera Tower which u can see in a corner, like you see the map.

    DefectMessageToLeader may be somet message u send to the commander.. not sure... at all <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->

    MenuPromote may be some kinda ranking system in the game, so you have leaders and officers or something

    MenuBuyArmorLifeSupport maybe marines didnt have "Team" Resources before?

    thank you dauntless, the "menu" part was confusing me a little, now i understand if you ignore the menu bit.
    the camera thing souned cool, as well as the promtion system...its a shame they havent used most of the stuff in their folders....oh well, maybe they will use it in a future version??

    Camera towers

    these were basicaly like permanant scaner sweeps, it alowed the commander to see an area (including aliens and such)

    I specificly remember hearing about this (It might have been in the old FAQ)

    as for flame thrower
    2.0 (I hope)

    The idea is that Flay refuses to put it in unless he can make a volumetric flamer (basicaly it will expand in large areas and go farter in small ones, like a real flame)

    it also would use the leet particle system ;D


    All of these things are stuff I am pulling from memory of the old forums (pre release)

    I WOULD LIKE TO DRAW YOUR ATTENTION HERE!!!

    Actually, the bite animations <i>are</i> used in-game. It's just that the only time you se them enough to notice them are when everybody ischomping on a building with you. While inside the buildings, you will notice that no attack animations play, so it's not a problem with the animations, but with the buildings.

    Also, with the lerk death anims: it's like with the flying aliens in HL, how you kill them, they play a looping anim as they fall, then finish dead on the ground with a third animation. I'd imagine this would work a bit different with a player like the lerk, and so it instead just plays the first animation, stays in the last frame(like death anims always do) and doesn't fall and play the second and third animations.

    5(left), nuke used to be in it, no more (this was probably like drop a nuke)

    6, old med pack /me thinks

    7, probably research nuke

    8/9 no idea (but if you look at the screnies on the main page alot of these are there)

    editthe last one was 'things you drop for your marines' (the 3rd menu for commander)
