<div class="IPBDescription">Oh so blissfully pointless...</div> sooo... I was bored today and decided to see what I could do in regards to the various weapons in ns... first off mines...
<span style='color:red'>Floating wall of death</span>
Basically I found myself a nice big elevator.. placed around 20 mines on its surface, when
they are all active.. press the button and you now have a nice floating minefield...
<span style='color:red'>Rotating door gauntlet</span>
Tested on bast I believe,
Basically you scatter mines inside the rotating door on both sides (on the floor only), as many as you like,
use the door and you'll see the mines don't move with it... and they seem to come out of the walls as the door moves around.
Stand still in the path of one of the mines and as you touch it it will be dragged around the door with you so you can place them wherever you like (for example the places you can't see until the door is moving) <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
Would have really liked this to have worked on walls.. unfortunately they explode when the door moves... imagine... they go through the door... past the point where they can exit again... and suddenly.. a WALL of mines appears from the door... with no escape.. the door pushing you towards them and *BLAM* hehe
<span style='color:red'>Phase gate bomb</span>
Basically when you have your main phase gates set up, place one in the middle of nowhere, go through your gates until you arrive at the spare gate and place mines directly below you, (should allow 2 or 3 before you teleport again), now if any nasty aliens come through they may just find themselves teleporting into a nice big bomb <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
---
Anyways that's all I came up with so far.... though I did see the oddest thing while doing this... stepping into the command console I saw the commander view... but also a slightly transparent (as if cloaked) arms and gun... left clicking I found I could shoot down into the map... very strange... I'm pretty sure the clip brushes of the map stopped me from doing any actual damage... though I did have the thought of hovering in the sky... and destroying an alien hive as if by magic <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='wink.gif'><!--endemo-->

Something wierder, if you step into the command console while holding mines you get teh phantom hands, you can switch weapons while doing this, i switched to my knife slashed a bit. Then when i got out i saw this,

another pic,
<img src='http://www.vu.union.edu/~torresj/images/tilted2.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image'>
it goes away though if you go back into the command console and come back out. Freaked me out though....
1st tip is fun, 2nd is definately an exploit, 3rd is kinda cheap but not a bad idea <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
I tried to whip out my knife and eject from the comm chair at the same time, but a lagspike attack happened, and the order was reversed, so when I got out of the chair, it was all sideways like that.

Build a phase gate on a lift...
Watch the glittery effects appear below as the lift goes up... and a cloud of special effects raise high as the lift goes down <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
(build other stuff on a lift for your very own 'mobile-home' <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->)
I was a skulk and a marines killed me. Well It show's me I'm dead.
i was lying on the ground with 0 HP but still was able to walk around.
Really weird.
i was like "wtf?? my egg is kidnapping me!!". took some screenshots thou i must have deleted them :\

That's HL itself, not NS. I'm not really sure why this happens.. it's strange. It happens sometimes in TFC too. I'll send you a demo if you want <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo-->
You are not actually dead, you still have a very tiny bit of HP left. If you get more health you should return to normal.
I haven't really found a good use for mines <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='sad.gif'><!--endemo-->. Even gorge spit can detonate them.
You can put mines on buildings and the mines on phasegate didn't work when i tried it.
Admittedly I've only had 1 1/2 years worth of classroom experience in programming Java and C++, but art is art and when you make it, it's something you want to protect like a child instead of exploit the way the malicious people of the world might <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Amen to that.... I do a little coding here and I often don't find my own bugs, because I'm using my program the way it should be used and not trying things to "break" it.
Often people will come by try a few things and blow up my code, and it turns out to be a user-related thing that I would have never tested for.
Thank god for QA dept's in real life <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.natural-selection.org/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
Sometimes I get a little bit carried away.

You know what happened to me? I was playing as marines, and there was a server mod (or something, not quite sure what it was) where the armories gave health as well as ammo. I was mauled by a skulk (damn reload), and I happened to be next to an armory when my death arrived on tiny little clawed feet. I 'use'd the armory, and although I was dead on the ground, <b>I did not actually die</b>. I scooted around like that for a while, to the horror and amusement of my teammates. I must have looked especially strange.
This is unrelated, but I once joined a server and my lmg was acting like some sort of rapid-fire shotgun. It had the normal ROF, etc., but spewed out shotgun shells instead of wimpy little clips.
It wasn't even a local bug, because it killed skulks like <i>that</i>. *snaps fingers* It seemed like one hell of an exploit though, so I left.
I really have nothing interesting to add... But I figured since you mentioned my name, I might as well join in... Heheh

Now all you had to do was strap a bungee cord to your buddy and film him as he went down through the lasers...you could make Mission Impossible 3!
This wasn't on a lift, but once on ns_tanith (I think) I evolved into a fade while on top of a grate thing in the middle of a hallway. When I finished, I somehow fell down thru the grate and was walking around in a tiny little chamber with shallow water, which I guess is just there for you to be able to see thru the grate. I'm not sure how it happened.... Good ol' glitchy surfaces <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> .

I did that once. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo--> I went gorg, built a movement chamber, teleported to hive and went back to fade. probably a huge waste of resources, but we were in the "multiple onos inside their only base" stage.
