A few ideas.

<div class="IPBDescription">A few ideas from me.</div>I have though of a few ideas to help improve Natural Selection 2 for the better.
A few of my ideas might mention L4D2 as I have been playing that recently :D

Here goes:

<b>1. Fade Ideas:</b>

1. A) My first fade idea is to help improve the Secondary Attack when using blink.
I think that Fades should be abled to choose when they hit their Secondary Attack instead of it being a fixed time from when you start the hit and when you finish. This means that you could start your secondary attack (Put your hands in the air) and you can hit whenever you want to afterwards, it could be 5 minutes after or it could straight away (By holding it down it will carry out the Normal Fade secondary attack like it does now)

1. B) My Second fade idea is linked to my first one. This idea is too allow fades to start thier secondary attack before they blink. For example, if the fade secondary attack is like my 1. A) then you can start you hit. Wait until you can see someone, blink behind and then hit when the time is right.
Ths will make the fade's Secondary attack be more useful and it would also allow the fade to be more of an assassin.

1. C) My third idea for the fade is about the Flamethrower. At the moment the flamethrower stops the Kharaa's enery from regenerating. This is a VERY bad thing for the fade and makes the fade absolutely crap when he is on fire. He can't blink away when he is a low hp so it will just be a waste of Res.
I think that the fade should be abled to get an upgrade (Like carapace) that stops the flamethrower from preventing the fades energy regeneration. This makes it more fair.

1. D) My fourth idea is to allow the fade to have an 'Adreniline' ability. If you have played NS1 you will know what this is and what it does.



<b>2. Skulk ideas:</b>

2. A) Personally, I do not the like the jump-then-leap way of NS1. It was unrealistic in my opinion but...
It was very useful and it made the skulk more powerful. I was thinking that the skulk should be abled to be allowed to Leap and then leap again in mid-air. It could be an upgrade that allows the skulk to do this.
If this is implemented then the skulk will be much more useful closer to end-game and also people who support the idea of being about to leap in mid-air will be happy.

2. B) My second idea is to have an upgrade for the skulk which gives it more energy. I would like to be abled to jump off walls like you can as the hunter in L4D2. You can already leap on walls in NS2 but you don't have enough energy to do it consecutively. If there was an upgrade which allows it to have more energy to leap more often then I would be happy.

2. C) My third idea is to have a skulk 'Focus' upgrade. Everyone loved the Focus upgrade in NS1 and it made the skulk MUCH more powerful. There isn't much to say about this as most people who played NS1 will know what it is and what it does.

2. D) My fourth idea is allow the Kharaa to have an adreniline ability. Once again, this was in NS1 and if you have played that then you will know what it is.



<b>3. Gorge ideas:</b>

3. A) We all know that the gorge is fat. So what about if he can use that chubbiness to his advantage.
What I would like to see to happen to the gorge is that when he dies he should blow up like the boomer in L4D2. The gorge doesn't have to blow up and cover the marines view, he could blow up into infestation and allow the infestation to progress further, he could blow up covering the marines with Parasites allow the other Kharaa to see them, he could cover them with the acid that he fires out with his tongue. He could blow up into anything. Personally, I would like to see him blow up into parasites as that makes the game more team based.

3. B) As I mentioned before; the Gorge is fat. So what about if the gorge could Eat infestation to help him heal. It would not remove the infestation from that area it will just stay the same (or could have some slight change to it, maybe get a bit flatter and then over time it will grow back). This way it will allow the gorge to be more powerful in its own environment.

3. C) Games need humour these days but not too much to make the game look stupid but enough to make someone laugh for a couple of seconds.
I thought of a funny idea for gorge. My idea is that when the gorge does a belly slide; if he hits any marines it causes them to stumble slightly allowing skulks and other Kharaa to attack.
It is kind of like bowling :D

<b>4. Shotgun:</b>

4. A) In my opinion the shotgun is very OverPowered. It is easily optained at the start of the game and does ridiculous amounts of damage against players and buildings...
My idea is that the shotgun's damage should be less as soon as you buy at the start of the game and it should have a upgrade that makes it do the current damage that it does now.
This means that the shotgun won't be REALLY effective at the start of the game but it will also be useful close to end-game.



<b>5. Flamethrower:</b>

I have gone on and on about the flamethrower for a while and this is what I decided I want to happen to it.

<b>6. Armoury gun system:</b>

6. A) At the moment I do not like the armoury trading system. I think that the marine commander is having less and less to do with his group everyday. Marines can buy thier own guns so that means the commander doesn't have to give guns to them. Also, the Marine Commander doesn't need the Marines that much as he has robots to build and such
What I would like the see is a way that the commander can buy guns for the Marines. This would be done by buying a specific marine a weapon at the armoury and then he can go and pick it up. It would be personal to each player. There wouldn't be anything like "First one to get to the armoury gets a shotgun".
This way the commander has more of a choice over what marine has what weapon and it also brings in a reward system as well. For example: "Well done Marine! Have the first shotgun!"

<b>7. Red emergency lights/Room shutdown:</b>

7. A) At the moment I think that the Red emergency lights are too bright and that needs to go down.

7. B) What if when infestation covers a Red emergency light it becomes covered and the room gets darker. This will add to the atmosphere of the Kharaa parts of the map.

7. C) When the power to a room is lost I think that the windows of the room should also be covered. The windows add more light and also ruin the 'Darkness' that happens just after the Power Node is destoryed. Maybe, when the power node is destroyed; Blinds cover the windows.

7. D) I think that the Darkness when the power node is destroyed to be a bit longer as well. Or maybe that the commander has to turn on the Emergency red lighting.

<b>8. Fire and its effects on the Kharaa:</b>

8. A) I think that when one of the Kharaa is on fire they could have an increased speed boost to help them get away. To be honest, if I was on fire I would run like hell.... Somewhere...


<b>I have a few more ideas, some of them are about infestation but I will not say them yet until they release a functional version of the DI.</b>

    Can't reply to all of your ideas at the moment.

    The emergency lighting I also tend to agree.

    Once the node has been destroyed, I think there should be no lighting (windows are fine in my opinion as that is map/area specific)

    This should happen for 30-45 seconds and text over the power node (like when waiting to evolve) should say "Rerouting.."

    Emergency lighting then kicks in and provides basic light (perhaps 25% darker than what it currently is)

    That would be perfect in my opinion. :)

    This thread is mainly aimed towards the Devs to read so they can get a few more ideas :D

    The devs don't have the time, nor can they afford to shift their focus, to reply to all the idea threads. Frankly, there are better idea threads than yours, and the devs haven't replied to them.
