Is this the weekly "speculate on when the game will be uploaded to Valve and wait 'til next week" thread? If so, you might be better off watching that video which shows some pretty nice alien flashlight ideas ;)

they said that they want to move to a monday/tuesday release schedule instead of the friday one. So i doubt that today we will get a patch. And with all that stuff going on (DI, dark vision etc), i think they probably wont have a releasable test build (that is actually fun to play)
I have never seen them stick to any real schedule, it is always either announced and then late (old method up until a few builds ago), or not announced and then out of the blue (but kinda predictable from the tracker being at a standstill for a day or so). As of lately this Monday/Tuesday thing was mentioned and now everyone just keeps quoting that even though there hasn't been any obvious pattern to confirm it. I still think patches will be coming out whenever they feel ready (which makes more sense then trying to follow a specific schedule). If a patch is looking ready for them today they will probably try to send it off today and not just wait for the weekend to pass. Not to mention with all the PR this week and people flooding in to see what things are about is definitely incentive to get out another patch, but I wouldn't be surprised if what's holding things up is related to still trying to fix tickrate. A GC fix in itself might be enough to warrant a patch but there has been no mention of the problem actually being solved yet so :(
Take an endgamestats tracker of your choice, check for version 163 and look for games which duration spikes out. If you find a recent one, chances are high that this is of a playtest with the internal testing team, checking the release candidate for any showstoppers, which would mean that a patch is near.
We are aiming for a Tuesday release for 163. We still want to stick to the Tuesday release schedule thing. This patch has had a lot added to it, and the more features get added the more bugs are created, so its taken a bit longer then expected, but we hope to be back to releasing smaller weekly patches again once 163 is out the door.

Sweet. Releases on Tuesday are a lot better then releases on Friday IMO.

When it's released on tuesday you can still play on saturday...
The benefit in changing release day to Tuesday, is that in the worse case scenario, if it's late by one (Wednes), two (Thurs), or three (Fri) days, it'll still be released before Valve-guy goes home for the weekend. So what Lazer says is both true and false, and what uffo says is possible - they will try for Tuesday, but they will make sure it's in a ready state before they release, and this might very well mean they release Friday. Either way, we can all play on Saturday.
^There will most likely be a bunch of little performance improvements leading to a noticeable performance gain.
And not gonna quote my earlier post, but I was right about this whole schedule thing. I actually was hoping for the extra delay to finish up some things with my NS2 player stats before the patch hit, but for the sake of people's trust it's a bad move to keep declaring and missing deadlines when people would have been just as happy to have heard last week "trying to shoot for a patch this wednesday!" (even if tuesday had been the expected release)...
Could be wrong about some of this but I remember reading a few of these crashes were from Lerk spikes not getting destroyed (and becoming memory leaks really), also the potential for armories to start spamming out rifles which was also causing crashes in a similar but faster way. Think I remember seeing both being fixed on the tracker but they might have been moved off the list since accepted.
Personally I'm looking forward to the alien night vision and some of the commander changes. It will be interesting to see if Decals has made an appearance on other levels but DI. Even if DI is not in yet, it would be great if we can experiment with it with cheats or some such.
It seems the actual forum-time is a little off. I set the time to "pacific standart time" (GMT-8 hours) to see which time it is in San Francisco but the forum says it's 02:44 PM (according to google it's 12:56 am (PST))
anyway, take your time with the patch... remember haste makes waste and Rome wasn't built in a day.

Both UWE and Valve are on PST so you'll need to adjust accordingly for your time zome.

b162 is really unstable, it's actually getting to be unbearable. I hope b163 fixes the crashing for the most part.
Anyhow, looking forward to this UWE. Great stuff.
