Map Idea

I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, buuuuuuuuut................

I have one idea for an outdoor (kinda) map. It could be a moon or planet base that is contained in a giant clear geodesic (is that the word?) dome. This way you have boundries within the dome (primarilly for lerks, maybe the dome can be deadly to the touch, vie a func_kill, or whatever it's called), yet you also have some outdoor environments. Then you could have three large to medium size buildings, each containing a hive. There can also be an underground tunnel system (just small enough for skulks to fit through) connecting the three buildings. The tunnels can also have openings in the ground via sinkholes that the marines cannot see (use a func_illusionary so you can't see the jole from the top). An outdoor enviroment where you can see a skulk coming from a mile away would be boring, but the chance that one could pop out of the ground and bite off your leg at any second would be just plain scary.

Please, lets get some more ideas and see if we can actually pull off the first successful outdoor map.

generally mappers should stay away from hurt and kill triggers. Because most of the time people wont know it will kill them and well....plus its annoying sometimes. But, for the most part it would be a good idea, hence it being suggested various other times. =D its okay though.

I just want to see something new in an NS map, and the kill entity was just a minor suggestion

Only problem I could see with this - aside from the pure NS gameplay problems of aliens in open places (bullets have further reach than a skulks chomp) - the half-life engine would grind to a complete halt trying to run it - we are talking seriously large r_speeds.... serious sam engine could do it but half-life doesn't like to be stressed ... not to mention of course you would run out of planes pretty quickly having to build rooms that have outer walls in the scale and numbers required by ns... by all means - give it a go though...

As for mappers not liking func_hurt entities? Sirus, I love them....no better way to tell a person they aren't welcome .... look at many of the official maps with bottomless pits ....nothing better to let a player know they are beyond any help than to gib them ...
