Don't let the trolls get to you Cory. Keep up the great work guys! This patch was a success.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
I still get 'pulled' back when trying a rather simple 'walk forwards' manouvere, as any class.
I also find it immensely hard to kill anything as a marine or alien. It's either my inability to play games (likely) or the fact that I cant move properly (also likely). It seems that the game/engine/server has a LOT of trouble keeping up with my movements and tracking my attacks and strafes etc. It's just too jerky.
Other than that, graphically its friggin awesome (you can pat yourselves on the back for that, it's a masterpiece of a looker) and at least I can move, which is a step up from the first time I tried it! Still getting used to some of the sounds. I do miss the old ones though!
I am also still getting to grips with the commanding system, but love the alien commander already. I also dont know ANY of the maps, which may not help getting used to it. Anyone fancy doing a remake of some NS3.2 classics?
I cant really say much on the balance - Havent been able to get a good feel for the game. Dare I suggest fixing the player movement/tracking first before adjusting any game balance, as only once this is fixed can anyone really get a good feel for it. Personally I feel this should be the primary goal right now.
Great job guys. Still a long way to go but there's some excellent progress being made!

And if you could see how much WORSE the performance of the game has been for some people since the first release of ALPHA, you wouldn't be so optimistic.
Yes, the game ran better before you ever patched it for me.
I know for other people, they couldn't even run the first build of Alpha.
But for me every single patch except for 162 has been completely worthless. This is quite literally the "first" patch where I don't get constant black screens or super mega intense rubber banding, or total 1fps chop. I know my monster overclocked 4.2ghz i7 with 12 gigs of RAM and a gtx570 video card isn't the problem. (And yes I know it's still CPU limited).
Be realistic Cory. You don't have 50% of the features of the game in the game yet. Virtually nothing works ***WELL***, and a lot of things just plain DON'T work. Yes, I'm sure NS2 has advanced a hell of a lot from a year ago to get it where it is. But where it is 50% at best. Not pessimistic; realistic.
I wouldn't pre-order the game and support UWE if I didn't want this game. I wouldn't take the time to post on a video game forum if I didn't care about NS2.
But I'm not going to delude myself or listen to anyone else saying it's anywhere near v1.0 status. DNF will come out first because NS2 sure as hell won't come out in May.

Why is everybody comparing Duke Nukem Forever release date with NS2 unknown release date ? LOL

wait.. weren't you told to be nice in post #9? :poke:
you've been around since 2003 so you know about the evolution of NS1. don't worry uwe will make it happen. they are much better designers and programmers than those noobs that created DNF.
I have full confidence that UWE will make a good game - but when?
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Why is everybody comparing Duke Nukem Forever release date with NS2 unknown release date ? LOL<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
NS2 had a "Fall2009" date attached to the teaser.
Whether that's an Alpha/Beta/v1.0/whatever date - they were all irrelevant because nothing happened in fall 2009. It's 2011 and the game is still just barely out of Alpha. That's reality - not pessimism.
However, understanding UWE will make a high quality game is also realistic and not optimistic; I know Charlie and the team will <b>make</b> it happen.
But timing is absolutely everything and it's my feeling that it's running out.
I don't really see how timing has anything to do with it. Either they get it out this year or in the next three years. As long as it's a solid game at that time every single one of us pre-orderers will be right back here ready to play.
That's also reality. ;)
No amount of venting frustration at the development team is going to make the game come out faster. Every one of us is here because UWE makes a unique game that is currently unmatched anywhere else in the industry; If I was wrong we'd be there, not here. I don't pretend to know how long it'll take and I really don't care. Duke Nukem Forever took 13 years, how about cutting UWE some slack. We can start comparing it fairly to DNF around 2020.
