hehe /me smiles at the mods (reasons why I like this board)
as for the ppl who make squat on growing it, yah they aint the ppl importing it
Also the amount of $$ a farmer in the US could make from growing weed against the law is a tad bit more then $1 per 10 killos (no I have no proof but I would stake alot on it)
and logan, drugs are way to young for drugs, what are you smoking? (now that we are on the topic ;D)
meh, again look, I think the going rate for about a capucino cups worth of good weed is around $100
now if that $100 is split about 4-5 ways (if not more) 1) grower 2) manufacturer 3) exporter 4) importer 5) person who gets it to the retailer 6) retailer
I think Lord Frodo, Nemesis, and I should set up a Bill Hicks fan club. We could get the entire board listening to Bill Hicks. Oh, I think that'd be funny...
I'll be smoking tonight. And probably listening to Bill.
Bill hicks is awsome... if you guys like him check out David Cross. He's gunna be the next Bill Hicks (well as close as you can get).
Anyways, smoking pot is very bad for you. The human lungs aren't meant to inhale any sort of smoke, remember this at all times. The argument here isn't wether it's bad for you or not, it's whether it should be legal.
If you want to get into the health issue I would have to bring up water bongs which filter the smoke better than a ciggarette filter and I would also have to bring up brownies and tea which if done correctly, give you a much nicer high than smoking.
As for the "It's natural" argument, I'll qoute negative-postive.org by saying "so is arsenic, cyanide, and wiping your [bum] with your hand. Yippee for nature."
Opium, Herion, and cocaine are illegal because they turn their addictors into a social problem. I've never seen someone addicted(I use this term loosely) to weed kill someone for a dime bag. These other drugs are so addictive, though, that the user no longer thinks of consequences and/or no longer cares. These drugs easily incite violent behaviors.... as does alchohol.
We all no that 12 year olds are too young to be using any kind of drug. So lets not even try and defend that. I think that 12 year olds should have their caffeine/sugar intake limited too. Because as of right now, I'm addicted to both. Yes, I am addicted to sugar, look it up.
Agree with Dezmodium. The question isn't if weed is bad for you or not. It IS bad, but so is every form of smoking and drugs. The question is if it should be selled/consumed by 9 year old kids and that's not even a question.

hehe, Dez I love the sig ;D
see this is one of the things I don't get about drug legalization conversations, you will get a good number of ppl making usefull intelegent coments, then you get the periodic one where you wonder what the person was smoking when they posted, ie: <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->weed is illegal cause the government cant tax an ounce...think about that <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
huh? am I missing some great joke or does no one else get this either
meh, ohwell already posted all my ideas on leaglization, oh exept one, better ability to place age restrictions on it (as for age restrictions I don't believe in em but that a diff can of worms ;D)
Dez, thats the best post in this thread so far. I may be pro hemp and pro weed(2 diff things in my view) but that doesnt mean I dont acknowledge the dangers of breathing a particulate matter in my lungs. Any particulate matter be it pot smoke, cig smoke, coal dust, flour, is gonna be bad for you. And as for "its natural" arguement...you said it better than I ever could. Natural does not mean safe.
The prob with water pipes is....they remove up half of all particulate matter. At first this sounds good, but it isnt actually. It just means you need to hit more weed in order to get the same high you would off a joint or a pipe. I love bongs myself, but I will go thru 1/3 to twice as much weed when I use one. According to my sources the best way to smoke weed is thru a vaporizer(I have never tried this myself however), with joints being the second best way. True with joints you may recieve more particulate matter but you also recieve more THC. Pound for pound(man...I wish I had a lb. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> ) smoking weed in a joint is better than thru a water pipe.
I dont think legalizing marijuana will give anymore income to farmers. The stuff is called weed for a reason. It grows friggin anywhere. My friend droped some seed aparently inbetween the bricks in his walk way out side next thing he knows there is a huge plant sticking out. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='tounge.gif'><!--endemo-->
weed is actualy HIGHLY addictive, just not in the normal use of the word, weed causes a psychological addiction (no physical dependance but still a 'craving' for it)
yes it is true you can get addicted to food and such also, it is just less comon b/c the good feeling you get from a big mac just aint as good as that from a joint.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> While I agree, Thansal, I find the "psychological addictiveness" argument a bit weak (and yes, I realize you're pro-legal, please don't take this as an attack on you). I realize it does happen, but if you take a point by point approach:
1. Weed is addicting psychologically -- true, but so are a lot of other things, i.e. cigarettes and alcohol. In fact they're addicting to a much greater degree. So, we have to encompass that within our argumentation. Obviously the addictiveness is not a legalization issue, since our government chooses to keep these things legal. (should not be, anyway)
2. (@dezmodium) Weed is harmful -- True, smoke isn't meant to be in human lungs. Again, though, we see that things that are already legal in <insert your country name here> are just as if not more harmful than marijuana. (I realize you're pro-legalization too, don't worry <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->)
@merkaba: I'm in. Where do I sign for the Hicks fan club? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='biggrin.gif'><!--endemo--> (I changed my signature for it, whee!)
And on another note...
"If you think that pot has never done anything good for our society, do me a favor -- go into your room, take all your CDs and tapes, and burn them. Because you know what? That music that has changed your life so much... written by guys... who were REAL freakin' high."
Oh, I almost forgot
@404: what exactly did you mean by "As for Frodo, if someone is addicted to hard drugs then they probably are in no condition to post on forums... They have one thing on their mind: drugs."
I'm just not sure what the point of that was, if you could clarify I'd appreciate it <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->
and "Is pot a gateway drug? I'm not sure. It does vary. My cousin is now a heroin addict and started with pot, but you would never hear from him because he's all like... in jail and such"
My deepest condolences for your cousin. The question, though, is not "what did he start with?" It's "how does smoking pot 'lead' to other drugs?" It's not a logical progression of sorts, there's a rather large leap between smoking up and finding a vein. Personally heroin is on the list of *icky* drugs that you want to stay far far away from for me.

lol, the fact that you described it a an *icky* drug gets me you just went up like 20 points on the 'scale of ppl I like' ;D
Also, just to clarify alot of what people were saying:
A good number of us are on the legalization side and THUS make sure that the actual information is avaliable, there are large numbers of people who will say 'legalize weed b/c it isn't bad for you' and that is simply wrong
and if some one who is antilegalization points this out 'point their side' this way we keep all of the weapons on our side, I also don't like seeing people walk around with wrong info (like people who think X dosn't hurt you, or that don't know not to buy pepermint smelling weed, mmmm pcp)
yah, that was realy just to explain why somany of the pro legalization people point out just what is wrong with weed (so that the other side can't use it against us <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'><!--endemo-->)
(and no I didn't take any of what you said as anattack, just so you know b/c you realy just CANT GET YOU FN FEALINGS THROUGH STUPID TEXT GAHHH, sorry ;D)
But remember, with legalization come responsibility.
Just as there are irresponsible drinkers, there will always be irresponsible smokers. We can't let them give us a bad name though.
If weed was legal, I think there should definitely be laws controlling it and even taxing it. But under no circumstance would I ever buy Phillip-Morris Marijuana. PM = teh devil. EVIL! ::HISSSSSSSSS::

I'll only join this conversation based on the common argument that if pot was legal that the government could make "gazillions" in taxes.
Though I gave this stuff up years ago, I would caution you to think twice before ASKING the government to tax something you consider nothing more than recreation. Some day they might take you up on that offer and believe me, they would tax it into oblivion. Need an example? Just look at what's happening to cigarette taxes.
In little time your Saturday evening "smoke time" could cost you a week's paycheck.
