Allowing people to choose the MACs texture from either presets or use their own wouldn't be a bad idea we just can't allow the physical model to change or make it see-through that would be unfair. With just simple texture modding it might not be bad to just send the clients the new texture on connect so everyone view see them and although I could eventually see a lot of textures accumulating somewhere on your drive from this, they could always have a 'history' that cuts off after the nth texture downloaded. Optimally it sounds like if this was done at all it would be a few presets we can use to avoid having to download everyone else' textures but obviously having true customization would allow the most possibility and diversity.

Put in a /skinignore feature, so you can selectively ignore someone's MAC skin and see the default instead. That way you get to see the good ones and filter out all the floating penises.

I always thought it would be awesome if people could drawy their own insignia/decal which would appear on select places on their armor. Although player customization on public games is always subject to pornography issues. I'm not looking forward to the penis MAC.

PROBLEM SOLVED: mac skins are the new TF2 hats. SE guys get a special skin, normal preorder guys get a special skin, holiday skins, steam deal skins, etc... its the new gimmick that doesn't really get in the way and it allows customization without the concern of people abusing custom skins. Do it, market it, use it.
