    1280x720 windowed at medium with shadows on
    <b>FPS:</b> 18-30, with lag spike to 12

    1280x720 windowed at ridiculously awful with shadows off
    <b>FPS:</b> 20-32, with lag spike to 15

    CPU is bottleneck it seems

    Windows 7 64bit

    1920x1200 high Avg: 42.123 - Min: 20
    2560x1600 high Avg: 29.897 - Min: 17

    tomorrow I'll do a crossfire of amd 6950
    and tell you How Many fps


    recently had the i7 930 to 4GHz
    but as it gets very hot down to 3.52ghz
    and changed a lot of fps

    as they say it seems that this very limited by the cpu and not by the vga

    Wouldn't worry too much what card you get for NS2 if its faster than a HD5850/GTX460.

    Q6600 @ 3.4GHz with a HD5850, 1680x1050 on high - Rockdown 40fps average. 12 players = 20-30fps.

    I average around 30 FPS during games.

    I have a new EVGA GTX 570 coming Tuesday. I'll have to see how much better it is in NS2.

    This thread is bait for an ATI vs nVidia flame war :P

    NS2 is a Direct X 9 game that does not use complex tesselation. Therefore it is likely (But not certain) that at a particular pricepoint ATI cards will perform better than their more parrallel, tesselation munching Fermi brethern.

    Anecdotally, my youtube videos are recorded on a 5870, and occasionally a GTS 450 - Both give me recordable fps with Fraps running. Good luck with your decision!

    I would not be too surprised if UWE follows VALVe's lead and optimizes Spark more for AMD than nVidia.

    Did a few benchmark with Fraps.

    1) LAN

    I walked from marine start to marine start, always taking doors or hallways to my far right.
    That should be the longest circular path possible.

    <b>Tram</b>

    2) Online

    8 player game on Rockdown with structures, kills, death, lots of flamers.

    Don't think you can really say which is better in Spark without having someone with the same test system utilizing similar ATI card A and Nvidia card B. Right now what matters most is CPU speed. Crank a dual or quad core up, and you'll run the beta fine.

    if you have amd motherboard/cpu just get an ati card, if you have intel/intel mobo, get a nvidia.

    normally you are right, but AMD has actually released some mobo's where the onboard ati chip can give a small boost to the pci-e card. The 890gx i believe. It's not a very impressive boost though.

    the ATI brand was recently changed to AMD

    as far as amd+amd or intel+nV goes, there's no difference with amd+nV or intel+amd

    i would recommend choosing AMD cos they need the support,
    they are WAY behind Intel and a bit behind nV.
    the price per performance difference is negligible, if not better with AMD graphics,
    since they cannot compete with top performance, they can only compete with price.

    i recommend 6970 or 6950 depending on your budget

    now run Avg: 40.135 - Min: 26 in 2560x1600
    with all gpu settings in quality

    and Avg: 34.433 - Min: 20 with morphological aa

    the only bad thing is the bug of shadows flickering with crossfire

    lol actually i dont even remember what res i run (copy pasted from another post as his specs were close to my own), its higher than that though, i have a 25 inch monitor so you do the math. i wouldnt blame anyone for runnin ns2 in that res though but the game looks so good on high lol

    Online not really comparable because of the network/server issues.
    Don't think the GPU manufacturer makes such a huge difference

    Intel i7 + GTX 460 = 100 fps in waiting room + 30-60 fps in combat + 30-50 fps as commander (everything on highest settings)
