Agreed. They are barely even audible right now. A fully armored marine with boots walking on metal flooring should make a lot more noise. If they want to be sneaky they should have to use the walk button.

Yeah you can barely hear it even with headsets.

They don't even sound like foosteps. Something similar to the NS1 boot on metal sound effect would be most welcome.

    There is a walking button?

My bad. Only the aliens have one, but the marines should have one too tbh.

I don't know if it's a very intuitive way of doing things, but I'd somehow prefer having the tapping the forward key for silent movement. Having too many push down keys for different movement speeds feels pretty awkward. Even in NS I had most easily reachable keys in use and now there seems to be some extra communication menus and such.

If you were to give tapping the forward key a function it would be more logical to make it the sprint and instead have walk on the same button as for the aliens. However I don't think NS2 has that many buttons really. It has fewer than most first person shooters today and I have plenty of room left for more.

Also repeatedly tapping the button would make noise which is counterintutive when you are trying to be sneaky. It'd be hard to hear other footsteps if you are constatnly getting tap tap tap from your keyboard.

Can a dev help? Is there anyways to mod the game so I can turn up the volume on certain sound affects? Specifically the footsteps?

I'm actually not sure what the current plan is with the footsteps, but I know our sound guy is still revising them, and figuring out the best way to do the sound for them. So, they very likely will get made louder, if they are deemed to be too quiet.

As far as modding the game for stuff like that, we really aren't encouraging it at this point. So many things are still getting added, tweaked, polished, changed, removed, balanced on our end, it doesn't seem like a good idea to try and mod the game to fix things which are likely to get fixed or changed anyway.

i also think skulks need footsteps. its just so annoying to play with a level full of silenced skulks. i know its not high priority, but its something that caught my attention.

hey guys, yeh as cory said , these will be louder and im still working on the actual sounds, hopefully for the next patch the new sounds will be in. they are already louder in the internal build.

all aliens will have footstep/movment sounds, that change on different materials /metal/rock ect. also want to make them louder or quieter depending on how fast u are moving too.
