lol look this is a direct quote from that game...
"Nuclear Dawn is the first game to offer a full FPS and RTS experience without crippling or diluting either side of the game. Play as a soldier in a war-torn post-apocalyptic landscape, modeled on modern cities, and take the fight to your enemies as armored, assault or s....."
it says they are the FIRST GAME TO OFFER A FULL FPS AND RTS experience...

Natural Selection Natural Selection 2 Savage series Empires Tremulous Nuclear Dawn Urban Assault Project Reality Zombie Master Iron Grip series Rise & Fall: Civilizations at War Dungeon Keeper series Command & Conquer: Renegade X Warsoup Battlezone Battlezone 2 Refusion (thanks Kouji_San)
This is pretty much the list of RTS/FPS mods/games that I know of (although this list is a bit of a stretch as some are debatable). As you can see, its a pretty small genre. I think all RTS/FPS games will benefit from new RTS/FPS releases (by expanding the number of people exposed and/or willing to try them). I don't see warsoup, nuclear dawn, etc. as a competitor to NS2 as much as a helper.
I think for me both Warsoup and NS2 respond to the same need of a certain gaming mindset. Both have the basic idea of playing as a field soldier that still plays for the bigger RTS goals, which is something I always find interesting. Probably most people will be more drawn into the graphical themes and such before the actual similarities though.

I am following Warsoup as well. It is a drastically different take on FPS/RTS than NS2, if there are people who were worried about direct competition between the two games.
Warsoup team-play and class structure is closer to an RTS than a FPS. They only have 1v1 and 2v2 formats for example, since each player is essentially acting as a commander in a RTS. In addition, there are 3 classes in the game and once you pick a class, you cannot change. Each class has its own tech-tree and playing style as well. They are actually closer to a race in Starcraft than a class in a FPS.
I am looking forward to both games. I just wonder which game will be finished first :)
