And you posted here thinking we'll tell you how to exploit the game?
There IS an exploit allowing you to walk while cloaked, it will hopefully be fixed with the next patch and quite frankly, I hope whoever uses this or any other exploit will realize they are ruining the game for others and stop. That means you.

That would unbalance the game so badly I'm in shock.

It works, it's known, many know how to do it, nobody will tell you.

Don't be too hard on this guy, I think he didn't know this was an exploit and just wanted to know how to do something that, as far as he knew, he should be able to do.

But I could be wrong, but it's always better to give someone the benefit of the doubt before flaming. =)

No wonder why I kept seeing motion tracker icons even when I didn't see anything infront of me.

I know of a way to get large distances quite quickly as a skulk, without getting uncloaked... its not this, its.... No. I'll email Flayra about it. Stupid as I am however, I have said it several times to my team that its possible to *something* and stay cloaked.

Align, if you are talking about the leaping-while-cloaked issue, i've already attempted to post it on the bug forum, only to recieve the reply that it is a valid tactic, not a bug. For those who don't know, if you perform actions (biting, leaping, blinking, etc) slow enough while cloaked, you stay cloaked. This means you can leap all around the map cloaked as a skulk and get behind TFs withought even setting off the turrets. However, it is perfectly fair as the marines have a number of counters; motion tracking, sensor sweep, observatories in the area and listening for that hugely loud screeching noise.

according to the manual... a cloaking alien in direct contact with a surface nearby downloads visual information from the bacterial network, and changes it's skin to those colors. so a leaping alien breaks contact with the network, and should not be able to remain cloaked, of course it also says that once the alien moves or attacks the link is broken too... i know thats not true... hooray for inaccurate manuals

I once played a game called Everquest where they banned all the people who found out serious bugs in the game and reported them. I think Verant was smart doing that, now all those dirty bug reporting cheaters are not playing my game. I think that perhaps valve should implement the same system!!!

    Going off topic

Uhh, ok but it might just be me but why would they banned the people who report bugs to Verant? One more thing I played EQ aka Evercrack and I reported bugs and I never got banned. But I played this game lonnnnnng time ago I think in 1999. My character was Sadas Windrift, lv 50 Ranger of the guild Blades of Honor.

I'm not sure if the '+strafe' trick can be considered an exploit or not. I'll explain why.

You move quite slowly by comparison, you are, in effect, simply walking.

Walking doesn't uncloak you, you can 'tap' your movement keys at the right pace and move no faster than the +strafe method lets you, but you retain the ability to aim when 'tapping' to stay cloaked.

Even while cloaked, you're vulnerable to motion tracking.

Try to move around a map with the +strafe trick, if you can I'm quite impressed as you're doing so effectively blind. It's akin to covering your eyes, wandering around for a bit, then pausing to 'take a look around' before moving out again. Very limiting in it's own right.

Yeah, I too played the big EQ back when it launched, however after reading multiple accounts of people who seeked out bugs and reported them (including a case where someone was able to get account names, passwords, and even credit card numbers I believe, with a simple packet sniffer no less -- the story goes as soon as he told verant about this horrible thing he could do with this simple packet sniffer, he was quite banned. I do believe he wrote a lengthy article about it and went into detail about how he did it too, perhaps to stick it to verant), it was quite the big turn off.

I'm just saying, all exploits are bugs, and bugs need to be fixed. Don't blame someone for finding, or telling, or perhaps even using an exploit, otherwise you feed into the system where you don't want people to report them.
