Turret Factory Bug

<div class="IPBDescription">TF goes down after upgrade</div> Not sure if this has already been posted or not, and I do apologize if it already has, but here is a bug I've seen happen quite frequently.

After upgrading Turret Factories, I often see them go inactive, as if they were never build after the commander spawned one in the first place. In other words, heres the situation: You are commander. You built a Turret Factory. You upgrade it so you can seige. It then goes inactive, the turrets it controls go down, and you must have a marine go to it and rebuild it.

This is very annoying because your marines say you're doing something wrong, and won't listen when you tell them to build it again. And it also takes time and momentarily gives aliens the perfect opportunity to rush.

    Happens occasionally, but not all the time. Not sure what triggers it... might do some testing and see if I can duplicate the problem. I remember it happening on Eclipse, right up near the top entrance to Comp Core. In that little cove there. My guess is it's something to do with the code they implemented to make sure Siege Cannons don't come back online after the TF is gone until the new TF is upgraded for Siege again.

    I woudln't think 'mechanical failure' would happen more often then something like 'evolutionary mixup'.     the most simple way to deal with this problem (wich has already been discussed at length in many other posts) is to upgrade the TF BEFORE dropping any turrets next to it. that should solve 99% of the factory upgrade issues, this problem is most privilant in the Triad Generator on Eclipse

    I don't think it has anything with "rebuilding" to do. The fact is, the turrets go offline as long as the factory is upgrading. When the upgrading is done, they go online. Remember when you could go to an Arms-Lab and hold use key on it, as you would build it when it was actually upgrading something? This speeded up the upgrade and was changed with 1.02. With other words you're not rebuilding the factory you're just speeding up the upgrade process.

    Umm no.. the Turrets DEFINATLEY function while the TF is upgrading. so dont go spreading rumors.

    I would think some commander just clicked on the little icon on the right bottom corner instead of the upgrade icon.....

    Ok if you think its not a problem go drop a TF at Triad Generator and put some turrets around it, then try to upgrade the TF

    I've never seen this happen o.o... lol Are you sur eyou're pressing the upgrade button and not the recycle?

    I dunno I actually might of seen this happen once or twice(can't remember..) but i guess this coundts as a serious bug, and should be looked at! x.x

    I've been commanding for a long time, and I know what I'm doing. I'm not pressing the recycle button. If I was the TF would dissapear. Duh. The bug is pretty well-known to non-newb NS players, dude.

    every time i play as com or marine when the tf gets upgraded it goes of line. the thing i like about it is that the marines have to rebuild it to get the turrets active again. in its own way it forces the marine to work together(only really on pub servers) as you need some marines defending while others are trying to rebuild the turret factory. this give the aleins(who are about to get the hive seiged in most cases) a chance to stop the marines while there at there weakest point.

    Yes I have seen it on alien side, Marines get tf and turrets within siege range. Im making banzai skulk runs on the tf, suddenly its not shooting anymore. Must have been upgrading to siege and died, I like it, its kind of realistic, random mechanical failure, siege is still in its early test phase, and mechanically unreliable. Please dont fix it.

    Bloody hell thats the most retarded thing i eva heard about that realistic failure... its not like its getting attacked its being upgraded.
    Btw i fink this was due 2 1.03 a bug in that probaly coz i av seen it done plenty of times.

    I didnt' say it's not a problem.

    It just never occured to me so I can't really judge.

    I would say it's either human error on recycling the thing accidentally, or the upgrade button key was linked to the recycle button. Cuz in this described case it seems like the Tfac was more like recycled when upgraded.

    What rather happens frequently is when you try to upgrade a Tfac, it won't let you (not that it disables the turrets)

    I have problem with this bug a lot lately. Seems like almost every game I command I get this bug. But I know how to get rid of it. When the TF finishes upgrading and you get the TF bug just ask a marine or two to go press E and build it again that should get rid of the bug and allow you to build cannons. When it says that the TF is not fully built it literally means that.

    Guys, LISTEN TO ME. I'm not an idiot. I'm clicking upgrade, got it? And no the turrets don't go back online after upgrade. I've seen this happen 3 times ok, I'm pretty sure I know what I've seen. No flaming.

    I have also encountered this bug a few times, and the turrets WILL work while the tf is being upgraded, it's when it's done upgrading that the bug sometimes occurs, all turrets will go offline and you have to get a marine to rebuild the tf for the turrets to go back online.
