What Was Your Longest Game Ever?

nuff sed.
Well the topic summed it up....

My longest game had to be 2+ hours. It was the map with the big revolving door near the marine spawn and engine room hive. I joined this game not even in the beginning. They had one hive still, with the first upgrade being sensory... sensory. I was just meh about it, so I played the game normally with cloak.

Eventually we pressed into engine room, and built a hive there. After that, the marines started exploiting bugs. They were attacking one of our hives from the vents and etc. using the hitbox bug like a mofo, and they had an invincible marine running around shielding all the other marines. We told them to stop, and what the bugs were and how to fix them, but they kept doing it anyways. So I said "Two can play at that game." and I binded my strafe modifier key, and began to use cloak the "cheap" way. =) We eventually got the second hive up, and got every resource node on the map. They rebuilt base in the engine room, and fortified it like crazy.

They had HMGS and grenade launchers, and eventually pressed back into the revolving door room area. But before they could fortify the place, I snuk in there cloaked with Lerk and umbrad right in the middle of the turrets. Boy that base went down fast when the 5 Fades popped out of the elevator shaft to help me. =)

They stayed in the engine room bombing the place with grenades. I used the cloak bug to sneak as close as I could and just paraited everything. When they finally caught on, I wasn't able to do it anymore. The gorge wasn't building D chambers, so I evolved to gorge and built a row of 8 Defense chambers outside the Engine room.

The battle raged on, for what seemed like forever. We had Sensory and Defense upgrades, but no movement. Finally we were pressing in, because they only had one resource node (technically 2 because of a bug), and after toying with them a bit we finally killed them. Game over.

Meh. Sounds like fun. I'm torn between denouncing you for using exploits, and asking you about the 'cloak bug.' So, I'll do both. You really shouldn't use bugs like this, even if the other team is. But....what IS the cloak bug?

Im unsure of exact time but I know the longest was LONG...
But this is what i like MOST about the mod, the time it takes to play a single round.

The cloak bug is when you are cloaked and move around using the strafe modifier. You have to use the +strafe button that you hold down, because +moveleft and +moveright will uncloak you.

somewhere between 4 and 5 hours i think, they got extremely powerful, and pushed us back into the revolving door base, and somehow we managed to hold off fade/onos attacks in there and beat em down, take back all the hives, and kill em, took ages tho. but it was so good.

    Three hours. Yep.

I was on ns_nothing, we were aliens. It was 10 on 10, we had two hives, they held one. We kept putting constant pressure on them, but they kept pushing back. The battle raged on for a long time, we would lose a key location and win it back, then they'd come back and push us out again. The biggest battle probably waged in the Cargo Bay Foyer, we spent the entire game trying to secure it, so we devised a plan...

The top five on the scoreboard(I was one of them) would attack the main base, since marines typically value this more than anything. The other five would attack the Cargo Bay Foyer, and with lessened resistance, it would crumble.

Surely enough, our plan worked. We kept them busy at home, while our friends destroyed their phase gate at Cargo and basically demoralized them. 20 minutes later, we charged in their base as Onos, Lerks and Fades and completely obliterated them.

It was by far the closest match I ever came by, we had a lot of trouble in the beginning, and if it wasn't for some dilligent guerilla tactics by our skulks, we would have easily lost.

EDIT: This was the 1.03 patch.

My longest game had to be about 3 hours long, ending at about 5:15 AM.

This was on NS_Tanith.. The marines holed up in one of our hives, so all we had were fades and lower. There was only one entrance at the end of a long hallway, and they had an endless supply of grenades and seige cannons preventing us from building Walls of Lame close to their base. Eventually they foolishly welded open a second entrance to their base and aliens won.

my longest game was 4 and a half hours. It was great both teams kept on pushing each other back and in the end marines won.By using a mass of Heavy armour and Heavy machine guns.I didnt think a game could tire u out that much.

5 and a half hours, lost 3 hives 3 times on nancy, some solo jetpacking saving our arse time and time again, eventually phased to subspace and held up there for 2+ hours, eventually getting kitted up with HA and weld to win.

I usually experience rounds are shorter than they shud be. Early game switches over to endgame too fast most of the time. Marines are spreading, spreading, and then the first fade shows up, they push marines back into their base and last stand, finished. Usually 30 mins.

The other version is that the marines approach quickly to one hive. secure it with some turrets and then move over to the next hive. As soon as its taken alien only have skulks and lerks and its relax time for marines. One more siege for the last hive, finish. No last stand needed. Can be made in 15-20 minutes.

Its long time ago when i last experienced a good long round with some u-turns and chances on both sides. And i play about 5-10 rounds per day.

i think mine was 4 hours+, teams were so well balanced (experience wise) and we really had 2 struggle to win but it was all worth the while

Hey mwells that was my plan.., I remember that game, we all kept going at cargo unsucessfully.. and a few of us were in powersilo where we were constantly pushing them back and forth as they tried to siege it.. yep that was a long game... I have played many long games. I am guessing that around 4 hours has to be tops, by that time half the people playing had switched as some left and some came....

BTW mwells that was a damn good game, the pressure on the marine base almost always causes them to go chaotic as they don't want to lose it, and at the same time they can't afford to lose that one hive they had...
They lost it all, it was great team work too.,.

Ha, yeah. I remember that it was your plan, sorry for not mentioning that. You were brilliant for coming up with it, I must say.

Yeah, that was probably the best game I ever played though, thanks for the fun and I hope to play with you again soon.

my longest game was 5 hours... it was fun, but ended up to marines seiging a hive, all aliens running to save it, neaturlized threat, then another hive sieged, ect... It got boring and we called it a tie since the aliens couldn't take out the marines base with alll the turets in there

About 5 hours, the first 2 hours both marines and kharaa were rushing each other stupidly without really building stuff. When we realised that nobody was getting anywhere, it turned into a race to build stuff. Very fast paced, but I think most people were exhausted by the time the actual fighting got going. I was eating my dinner while playing.

Longest game I played, probably 2 hours, yeah I know, minute considering some of your epic games, but this one was good for me as I learned some new tricks.

Was a 10 Vs 10 game, Bast. Aliens spawn in Refinery, Head directly to Engine room to secure it, MArines head almost right to double resource and eventually Feedwater Control Hive. They managed tos ecure it all during our Skulks rushes (I was gorge for main part, and was trying to get resource towers up Asap, while defending thier revolving door) Got sieged, then went Fade. Decided to try and liberate Feedwater control. Swimming through the underwater tunnel, starting to lose health when i popup the other side to be greeted by 4 sentries, i go back under, and find out that they dont shoot things in water, I grin then start letting of Acid rockets at them, Another fade sees my tactic and helps, then antoehr tries to rally us to retake Feedwater, he ends up trying to fight off gren launcher marines through the tram corridor, while me n the other fade start to butcher the base. Marines pop through the Phase gate and we duck back to the water, they obviously didnt see the water as we then continued to rain rockets on them, a jetpack marine saw us , jumped in and died fast, but not before landing many grenades about, killing us off. We managed to fight back for that hive, take it, secure it, only to have it overrun in about 20 minutes and resecured (so they thought) again the long swim to try and free up a hive. We managed to free it up then push forward while a Gorge secured it. 30 mins later we were pushing into the marine spawn, all sieges destroyed, most buildings hurting when the server crashes and we are robbed of victory.

Still the best game ive had.

Between 3-4 hours, VERY long game. But one of the best ive played.
I had just joined aliens and they had 2 hives, so i dont know how long they had been going at it before that.
The map was bast. Right as i got feedwater up i went onos. Right as i went Onos we lost our 3rd hive. ME and one other person on aliens even knew how to play. For some reason the marines kept trying to take the double res nodes by feedwater. I kept killing them as onos with cloak.
Eventualy i had killed about 45 heavy armor HMG marines as Onos. I never died, was onos for over 3 hours. Itwas awesome. They could never find my fat cloaked **obscenity**. Eventualy the aliens won. The marines were quite angry at me.

6 hours, then the server kicked us all, just as we Frontiersmen had cracked the defenses on hive two. We came back, we couldn't talk or type, the commander couldn't buy anything, nothing was working right, and the game thought we all were still in the ready room.

Games aren't as long as they were when the game came out. I miss those days. Gotta love those 3+ hours see-saw battles.
