Mupdate: Daphisto's Al|en³ Beast

I liked the fact that Daphisto so kindly converted and released those AL|EN models, but I found the "Runner" [or "Drone" in <a href='http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Corridor/3119/' target='_blank'>Anchorpoint Essays</a> terminology] just didn't look at all like it was meant to be a Xenomorph on that skeleton. So I did some tweaking to his configuration and I find it looks more like the AL|EN³ beast when it moves like this. Of course, the tail is still a little messed up [I put a long, bladed one in to be more consistent with the movie] since the Skulk's tail bones are so short, but decide for yourself if you can stand it. And I consealed the phallic member Daphisto put in to have something assigned to the second tail. To recompile, I had to reassign it entirely to the skeleton as Daphisto had left some bones out, which doesn't lend itself nicely to recompiling.

Thanks for the great model conversions, though, Daphisto. I'm using all three beasts. Nice work on the Rhino one, too. I like how you did that [I just made the tentacles too small to be seen when they thrash around and plugged the holes in his back].

All credits for the model go to the guys who made AvP2, of course.

Mirrors would be nice, if you please. I've only got a few gigs of bandwidth per month. I will make this model unavailable if my bandwidth gets short because I've got sites to host and I don't need them going down.

If anyone wants my updated version of Daphisto's rockin' Rhino AL|EN, let me know, though I'd like to have Daphisto's permission to do so as he did some nice work making the adult Worker/Soldier model [<a href='http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Corridor/3119/' target='_blank'>Anchorpoint Essays</a> terminology] look nothing like a Worker/Soldier model. I did very little to it, myself.

    By all means, post the updated rhino! It's great that you fixed it's problems... I just haven't had time to fix them. Thanks!

    I really loved that you've done with the Drone as well! Fantastic work on the new limbs... it looks great! I just wish the tail would "flow" better, you know... I guess the only way to do that is to re-animate it, though.

    Aw yeah! This looks awesome now. It looked great before, but I love that some of the little flaws (like the mouth, and the "split limb" texture being visible) have been fixed.

    I like the model, the originals have a really bad problem with them which causes me to not touch them.

    If you watch the animations, chunks of mesh will fly out extending really far during animation.

    I didn't see any of that in this model, so I think I'll review it with the Daphisto ones.

    Hey, thanks for the positive feedback, guys. Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner. I've been trying to get back on here since I posted this and the boards kept giving me some database error. Couldn't read some file or other. I sent a notice to the board admins, but got no response.

    Anyway, I'll be uploading the Rhino as soon as I get Virtual Machine working...

    I'd also be interested in working on Xenomorph-like models for the Lerk and Gorge, if anyone wants to discuss possibilities for those.

    For the Fade one, I was thinking of having that Worker/Soldier model pretty much the way it is, but with an AvP2 chestburster on its shoulder in place of the bile cannon thing. If someone could send me a Chestburster model [I don't have AvP2, nor the tools to get at the models in it], I'd love to play around with the idea.

    Yeah, Daphisto, it's a shame the tail doesn't flow better. If there are any animators out there up to the challenge of making the beast's tail flow, by all means, give it a shot. Not that it's -really- noticeable in-game, what with the Skulks always zipping by you at light speeds... But still.     I haven't noticed any chuncks of mesh flying around, sanguis.ba, but I did see that in NOLF2, which was an engine artifact [WinXP never did care for Geforce2's--had to install Daschund's Anticrash software just to install the drivers for my GF2 on here while rebuilding yesterday]. Loads and loads of these little glitches throughout the entire game. Multi-coloured snow showing up on certain spots of walls, vertexes flashing out of nowhere across my screen... Of course, I've only got a Geforce2, so I was expecting some cheesiness like that. I don't get it in NS, though.

He's supposed to have a picture of it in <a href='http://http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=19&t=13057&hl=' target='_blank'>his release thread</a>, but it appears to have vanished. You can, however, check the preview of the "Alien Pack" by Daphisto <a href='http://www.trottel-elite.de/ns/' target='_blank'>here</a>. Enjoy.

    I guess that's not Desolation's page, so I shouldn't be thanking him... I should be thanking SkoopyDoo! I appreciate it. I also like how it looks. Nice page.

    Thanks, Misfire!

    Hey, Geek, rather than a Drone, how about using a Predalien? It's got those mandibles, and it's more organic than the other Xenomorphs, which lends itself better to the skin of the wings. Anyway, that's what I was going to do.
