Weld Vertices function

<div class="IPBDescription">editor's bug ? or my pc's bug ?</div>Hello everyone,

I would know if the weld vertices tool in the spark editor work for you or not ?

because i dont use it very often (for now), but since yesterday, i try again and again to weld 2 vertices (or more) and this doesn't work at all...

i try many ways like filter all but vertices, add another shortcut than the default one (and with only 1 key)... etc etc

i had noticed that the function in the key bindings settings doesn't have any description and that this function doesn't show on the edit scrolling down menu...

so :

could someone tell me if i am the only case for this "bug" or not ? please ?

anyway, everything work fine in this editor and the files of the "game" in steam are all corrects.

thanks for your replies.

It only works with the Selection Tool. With the select tool active go to Edit and Weld Vertices will be there.

Keep in mind that edges aren't welded (yet?), if you weld vertices that share multiple edges.

Hum... well i'm not sure but i had activated the "show triangulation" option and i recreate my "wall" with the good number of vertices this time for comparation; and i found exactly the same number of faces (14 in both case).

So i think (because in this case the 2 vertices are on the same line) that when we weld 2 vertices together, the edge between is deleted by the operation.

but many you think about another type of welding.

anyway, in my particular case , i got the same amount of faces at the end, and that's the point of that thread =)

Yes, edges disappear, when you weld vertices that were connected with a line.

But try to put two seperate, identical faces next to each other and weld their vertices in order to connect both.
This time each face will keep it's own egde in the middle, where both connect, even though they share the same vertices.
You have to delete one edge and recreate the face with the remaining one.

ooh .. thank you very much for these precious tips =)

i have to weld two seperate edges on another place of my map, whitout these advices no doubt i'll make a mistake ...

    good to know.

I hope this thread will be some help for others too.
