<div class="IPBDescription">How it is going to work?</div>I am not sure if I am repeating a thread or not but:
How is gestating going to work?
The same way it did in NS1 or different.
Also, I think the size of the gestating egg should differ depending on what you are turning into. For example the gestating egg for an Onos with be a bit bigger than the Onos model. (A pretty big egg)
And the normal 'small' size for the skulk, etc, etc.

And maybe some faded morphing inside the egg.
So if everyone gestates at the same time the aliens lose?
You are not dead, you are gestating.
I am pretty sure butterflies and moths don't rely on others to get them out of the cocoon.
I think is one of the essential parts of the Alien behaviour ingame. But for now we need to wait for it.
Edit:
It could be a nice mod, making others crack the egg so you can come out.
And marines should have something similar, but tech related.
Ralph Pootawn: No
"Hey can someone push the doors of the Command Box shut please???"

This would add so much strategic depth to NS2, because not only do you have to fight marines, there is also an element of population management in the game.
This would also give another distinct role to the alien commander that the marine commander doesn't have, in the form of a census ability, which displays info about the team's population, age distribution, life expectancy, racial variation and distribution, as well as literacy rates. The alien commander can then use this information to choose the most effective upgrades and buildings to place, such as Communty Centre building, which gives a health bonus to troublesome Skulk youths within a 1000 unit radius.

"Hey everybody! Let's all have sex so people can spawn!"
the first thing that came to flayra's mind when making ns1 was definitly this. I'm Joking.

Yeah and NS2 would get the same rating as porn movies... Put in the sex minigame that was in the GTA3 pre-release ;-)
Hey!!! Don't pimp my idea! No money exchange (or resources) should be done, you do it for the benefit of endangered species.
Anyway, yeah, who could take me that seriously with what I said? But for a mod could be nice.
Nobody wants to turn a corner and find an onos mounting its mate, or two skulks going at it like rabbits - don't even make me imagine the gorges.
Worst idea ever LMFAO.

I've been playing NS competitively since version 1.0, so please excuse me when I say that I have a better perspective of the mechanics of mating in NS than you do, and I know I speak for the majority of competitive players when I say this has been a strongly requested feature from the start. A similar feature was actually experimented with, but it was ultimately removed out of fear that competitive players might not be able to perform at their peak due to the pressures of competitive play. However, it was unanimously agreed that the particular implementation was poor, but the idea should remain a core part of NS gameplay, and eventually return.
btw.: i#am against eggs who look like whats hatching in them... which egg will u kill first then?
the empty one, or the onos hatching one? ... would be a tactical failure.
All I can imagine is a couple of Skulks sitting around in armchairs and drinking coffee now. Possibly with monocles and top hats.
Imagine a Gorge smoking, with a cool hat.

Thing is, I usually play games with my friends. You want me to...mate with my friends? Sounds a bit awkward, if not creepy.
some of you will end with a misformed social life and a shrink unable to help you :p

Hah, that sparked a memory of Quake 3 Freeze tag ^^ You'd hit a person, they'd be frozen, and only buddies could unfreeze them. If the entire team gets frozen, you lose :p
Egg-tag ^^

My shrink says I need an outlet for my aggression.
@PaiSand: That was boss.
