<div class="IPBDescription">with the same key</div>Since the netcode is not working good enough, a proper testing is not possible.
That's where the offline mode could come in handy.

Invite a few friends over, build a lan, copy steam and NS2a on their systems and shut steam down to offline mode.
Now you should be able to expierence it if there is a proper lan game discovery and if NS2 is not depending on the masterserver for LAN games.

That's a pretty quick way to widespread piracy. If that worked, all you would need is a program called "Hamachi" which simulates a LAN over the internet and you could have as many people as you want all running off that single key, playing over organized Hamachi networks.

Ok everyone's saying the alpha is "unplayable" and we're worried that some interested people may get to play?

Anyway, i was thinking it would be nice if the beta-people could play the alpha offline, purely in a developer-map-editor-testing-mode sense... it kinda sucks that the engine test is gone for us. I would of also been satisfied if my steam didn't automatically update to the non-runnable alpha build, and just stayed at the engine-test build till beta...

Hamachi is REALLY easy to prevent! JUST ADD A 30 MS PING LIMIT to join a game!!!! Why does no developers think of that, except Microsoft with their Xbox 360 and Games for Windows Live (GTA4 has this limit, Halo 2 has this limit).
