binding extra mouse buttons

I am unable to bind mouse buttons 4, 5, 6... to anything.
Does anyone know how to do this (maybe via a lua file)?

I too was able to bind mouse 4 with my logitech mouse, nothing else though. Really no big deal though a lot of my games don't allow me to bind most of my mouse buttons (10 of them).

I'd like to be able to find my mouse wheel up, down and mwheel button, that's more then enough for me.

Something I noticed which may help a little: NS2 labels the buttons differently than what I'm used to. Left mouse click is "mousebutton1" in every other game I've played whereas NS2 calls it "mousebutton0". They just shift all the numbers down.

just map them to keystrokes on keys you don't use in the game. It's not a big deal.

Many modern games don't recognize mouse buttons on many mice. It's a common problem that you can get around simply with the software of your mouse. While, yes, it would be nice for NS2 to recognize every mouse, that's got to be near the bottom of the to-do list as it really doesn't affect anything. I play plenty of modern games that I have to set up custom mouse keymaps.

The software for my mouse allows me to bind on a per-program basis, so I usually end up binding button 4 to [ and button 5 to ]. As far as I know, I've never played a game that required those keys, yet they are easily bindable. So the game interprets my extra mouse buttons as those 2 keyboard keys and voila, easy extra-button binding.

Yeah, software often lets you bind your mouse buttons to be like a key. So say make mouse 4 'K' then bind in NS2 whatever to k. Yummie.

Also try and use that button when your typinkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkg.

Hmmm mine doesn't let me do that and it sounds like a pain in the ass, I want to be able to use my mouse wheel up to scroll things, not press k or shift.

I said per-program basis. In other words, I'll tell my mouse software that specifically for the NS2 executable, change my mouse 4 or scroll wheel to be some other key. Once I'm outside NS2, even if I'm alt-tabbed, it goes back to whatever default settings I have for those buttons.

If your software doesn't do it, you bought a bad mouse. :( All Microsoft Intellipoint mice have these options.

Ooh ok that's pretty cool. And no I didn't even buy this mouse it came with my brothers computer that he bought about..6 or more years ago, and it works well so never had a reason to spend money on somethin I already got.
