Still cant play alpha

So,

I downloaded the alpha probably within 30 minutes of it being released on Monday. Then, I activated my black armor key no problem, got into menu setup all my settings.

Tried to start a local game, couldn't.... it would just hang on a black screen.

Tried to join a server, couldn't..... it would just hang on a black screen.

Ok fine, its probably just tons of people trying to connect, no biggie I'll try again tomorrow.

So I come home from work yesterday, try to give it another shot.... same deal...

Try today in the morning before work.... same deal...

Yes I know its alpha but everyone seems to be enjoying it, and I want in as well.

Specs:

Win 7 64bit, i7 920, ATI 5850, 6GB DDR3 RAM.

    Open console on the black screen and see what it is up to. The game isn't optimized at all so loading times/connection times are pretty long.

    Also: Check your firewall, I have to kill my firewall completely even with an exception to allow ns2 to play.

    got the same black screen done every thing , firewall, gfx setting, reinstalled game and still no luck :'(

    they said the fixed a connection issue. perhaps your problem will be fixed for the next update. they said they would update every 1-2 weeks. so worst case in 2 weeks you can try again, but i would except in 1 week.

    IMO they should push a quickfix out for the connection problems, considering it's causing servers to get dos'd too not just disallowing players to play

    If you can't create your own local game then the problem is somewhere else then simple connection problems. Did you manage to play the engine test? Try lowering your gfx settings/updating your drivers etc the whole crap.

    Every alpha fix can create more bugs in its implementation, the delay is to ensure that the fix released isn't just as unworking as the previous. Every snapshot should be a step in the right direction, not a sidestep in an arbitrary one.


    Also bear in mind that it takes a long time for any update to be propagated to every Steam Content Server ready for release, and that's after Valve validate the data. It's not even been two days.

    - I am on DMZ for all ports are open for my PC.

    - Tried re-installing

    - Engine test worked fine.

    - Was not able to create a local game, just got the black screen, check the console and it had MANY lines of error code.

    Guess I'll try again next week, no hard feelings here, I realize this is only alpha and many things still don't work. I'll keep checking forums for a solution.

    was hoping that the new patch would help, but I am still having the same issue. Havent been able to join any servers as of yet either.
