Here is what I see when I open the game. Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong?

    <img src="http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/1870/unbenanntwf.png" border="0" class="linked-image" />

the weird thing is, iam running a 7800 gs too. does ur game start in fullscreen? according to the screens i guess not.
did u update physx? helped me to get rid of that screen and actually show the menu.

    i hope someone knows more

I have a 9800GT and have the same issue. They already say it, it could and will happen.

I have a GeForce GTS250 (G92b) and I have NOT seen this problem

7800GS are some of the first generation GeForce 7s video cards IIRC. Might be worth changing the thread title to "Graphic Issues, GeForce 7 series" to see if others get this problem.

Hopefully it'll be nice and consistent to either the 7800 range, or the 7xxx Range, or the whole GeForce DirectX 9.0c range (GeForce 6 and 7)

Need to find others with this problem. Or find others that have the same set of video cards who do not have this problem :)

I have an 8800GT powering 2 monitor @ 1920x1200. The alpha worked fine when I loaded it up with my settings from the pre-alpha. I then attempted to change my resolution to 1600x1200 for better performance. When I did that, now every time I load the engine, my screens continue to flicker and never show the game. I can hear it going in the background, but there's no display. It appears to be continually trying to change resolution.

I'm going to try and install the latest 258.96 nvidia drivers and see if that works.

Not in the general forum i wouldn't think
please PLEASE send your stuff into the feedback forum tho
    the more info the better
this is the kind of stuff the alpha was made for :)

chb i had the same issue with my 8800 GT
its something some people suffer when trying to use full screen
i went through the following steps to get as close to the best play i can full screen

    1) open windows explorer
    2) enter %APPDATA% into the navigation box
    3) Go to Natural Selection 2 Folder
    4) Opened "options" with notepad
    5) Set <fullscreen>false</fullscreen>
    6) Set <y-resolution>1050</y-resolution>
    7) Set <x-resolution>1680</x-resolution>
    8) Saved and closed

Obviously the 1680*1050 is my native primatry display resolution
change those values to match your own.

8800 GTS Nvidia card and I'm having plenty of issues as well. Turning the graphics down and reducing the resolution in windowed mode helped me get in game but the FPS was still pretty terrible. I noticed that there's at minimum some issues with PhysX and memory allocation. Turning it off yielded slightly better results but didn't necessarily fix the issue.

I thought I'd mention that I'm running on an 8800GT and I get great performance on high. No issues whatsoever. So I don't think the card itself is to blame, for what it's worth.

If it helps, the first thing I did when I ran the game for the first time was change the game to my monitor's native resolution (which is the same as my desktop resolution) and then switch to fullscreen.

GTS is a cut down version of a GT (ie. lite)
it is completely feasible that in combination with his overall system it can contribute to bad lag
would however recommend sirus ensures drivers are also 100% up to date.

Most of the problems are probably due to insufficient RAM, be it for the system or on your video card.

i may be mistaken but i believe it's been confirmed that the game sucks up way too much RAM from video cards

Pretty much no one has sufficient RAM....

    So yeah.

Especially if they're still aiming for the Min Reqs posted on the site, they have a ways to go in optimizations.

Not much you can do if everything doesn't work at minimum settings except wait for a patch.
