<div class="IPBDescription">Is there an ETA on them?</div>I realize we're only 1 day into the alpha, and there are a million things with high priority to be done, but is there any known ETA on Linux dedicated servers? Perhaps early-alpha, before beta, during beta, or at launch? If we can get a functioning Linux dedicated server then I know I can start hosting dedicated servers, even resell them to anyone who wants to run one... Doing that on a windows server is a nightmare, and is super hardware inefficient, I would probably only host a few for myself/friends...

    Unfortunately I'm going to ecco the thoughts of everyone else in here......alphas are pre releases not intended for the general public. Surely you can appreciate what the dev team are trying to do here? They love their fan base so much they are prepared to allow us (rather than internal developers) to test an alpha version......that speaks volumes about the direction NS is moving.

    Good effort so far, while I agree there's a lot to be done for an alpha version I'm pretty impressed and I know for a fact this game will go down a storm once it's released officially.

    My advice : Keep playing, report constructive feedback and stop complaining. Things will get better you just need to give it time, personally id rather wait another year for a perfect game rather than something rushed out to keep the fans happy.

    I think you've completely missed what I was trying to say here. I'm not complaining, I think the alpha is amazing. I'm already researching ways to get a bunch of dedicated servers up out of my pocket. They've already announced that a Linux dedicated server would come with it at launch, or least made reference to it (I could be remembering wrong)... I was simply curious if it was going to come out sooner rather than later...

    I'm not demanding a Linux DS, simply asking if there's any planned ETA... I wouldn't be the least bit upset if they moved it to not even come out until well after final launch...

    You can get it running using wine. Ugly, but it works.

    I can't imagine a wine server outperforming a windows server... I was planning on fiddling with it though, just in case it works great...
