Hi there, My name is Nysik... I've been playing NS since October 31st, 2002.
I have enough money in my bank account to pre-order this... The question is will the alpha be active?
39 dollars is a lot of money to me, However I will put it in to support NS and Unknown Worlds, however I also want to be around an active community, my only concern is the release of Starcraft 2 taking away players.
So my question is simple, will the alpha be active? and by that I mean a healthy population?

I'll answer that question on Monday at approximately 5:00 US central time.
Its projected that the number of these players is around 9000.
But realize the alpha of the game is not going to be shiny and nice it will be full of bugs and will mostly be for making sure that game mechanics have no errors
You have until the 25th at 11:59 PM PST to order.
Put into perspective whats important to you.
But it's gonna be at least 10000 I'm betting, if you include the people who will have something be incompatible and crash and not be able to play.

A part of me is thinking somewhere between [1k, 3k], where 1.5k is a realistic approximation.
I agree with you. I doubt that everyone that pre-ordered will be participating in the alpha test.
Yeah atleast something in that range at alpha launch :)
That's not very nice. I got two copies which set me back $110 and that is a lot of money for me.
Nevermind, nzd != usd

Yeah NZD took another dive right on my payday when I bought it lol. I was going to get 3 but I was a little short due to that, more's the pity.
I love you Slycaster and Renegade will too :) (he'll feel important, because finally someone is using his weird abbrevation)
@OP: the short answer is yes imho, most people ordered the SE and they will eventually try the alpha and maybe stick with it for some time.
I'm soooo going to be retarded in the process of getting pr0 !!11
Or, whatever the alpha test is going to entail. The first day probably won't be much playing. It'll probably be a lot of O###### THIS DOESN'T WORRRKKK!!!!
