A few questions:
1. Does the MACS become vulnerable on the part that shoots when it is deployed?
2. Does it shoot lasers or bullets? (Nanites or whatever)
3. Is it for siege (On a hive) or for killing Kharaa units?
4. How much damage will it do; A Lot or not much? (Or somewhere inbetween)
5. Will it be in the Alpha?

I can answer some of these for you:
1.) No official word on hit boxes on it.
2.) Neither, if you listen to the podcast they specifically say it doesn't "shoot anything" persay.
3.) In reference to the last question, it only targets Kharaa buildings, not players.
4.) This is pretty subject and will be a playtesting thing for sure. We do know it's got a 900 unit range.
5.) It wasn't mentioned on the original list, but I'm sure it will be patched in shortly if it already isn't.
Regarding 2.)
I'm not sure, but I think the original siege fired sound blasts.
No idea how that's supposed to work though.
It's MASC, not MAC. It's not to poke fun at you, it's entirely because I find that having two names so similar is a bad idea.
For point 2: In NS1, the idea was that the siege cannon generated its own gravitational field at a given location, which made buildings collapse on themselves. The sonic boom sound supposedly means that the air is rushed into that high-gravity point.
MAC = WITHOUT S
MASC = WITH S
S = SIEGE...
