Upgrading Weapons = New appearence.

<div class="IPBDescription">Title.</div>When you upgrade a weapon it should get a new appearence or something. Like in NS there is a machine that has a picture of a normal pistol and then an upgraded one with a scope on top of it.

I think this should happen with every gun to make it cooler and maybe give the gun more abilities. (It's worth a thought for future updates)

For example if you fully upgrade the grenade launcher you can switch it between a Grenade Launcher or a Rocket launcher or something... With a cooler appearence that looks like it would deal more damage.

When you say that I imagine painting flame decals on the side to make it more powerful.

As I understand it the guns will be getting addons, you can pick a couple of addons per gun I think and it changes the functionality. Was in an old news post as I recall.

Displaying what upgrades you have via changes in their appearance has been discussed and generally agreed to be awesome. Whether this be simply changing colors or actual plates appearing or whatnot, is unknown.

I see. Well I meant that it would be realistic and not with wierd colours on.

Yeah I know, but it's hard to make a gun realistically 'look as though it does more damage'.

Sticking more scopes and grips and laser sights and muzzle brakes and carrying handles basically amounts to painting flame decals on it.

Oh well. The only visual difference an upgrade can has is a longer barrel for more accuracy on range (increases the speed of spin on the bullet, which stabilizes it for longer ranges than the shorter barrel).
Trade off? The barrel burns out faster / slower rate of fire.

Another thing is the scope, but that can't be used (for now) anyway, so why include it in the first place, anyway?
rate of fire is increased with changes to the lock & trigger mechanics but you cant see that just as changes to the ammunition.

How do you want to distinguish here betwen upgrades?

Have an icon on the side indicating the level, skull and crossbones is 1, skull and marine helmet on a skull is 2, and pirate skull is 3 yaarrrr.

Because there is still lots of content to be made for the final release I'd say: SKINS

Just add some LEDS here and there and overall more-tech-savvy skin to be distinguish the upgraded models and it will be fine
