Dedicated Servers

in NS2 General Discussion
I know its obviously a bit early for this kind of talk, but how are dedicated servers working in regards to the game, would it require a full client download on the server to run the game, or would it be a separate server download. Honestly I'm interested in it, cause i have a 1000mBit VPS server thats kind of just sitting there, and I'd like to use it as a dedicated server for NS2

    if you have that kind of server.. why would client size even be a problem?

    Typically VPS's are not good for game servers because they are shared resources. You're probably better off getting a full dedicated server if you are really interested in running a decent NS server.

    Not to mention, "1000mbit" sounds like something sitting on an oversubscribed Cogent line.

    well, the server is on a backbone hub, I looked at the back end sever specs, only cause I work for the company, and each vs container is running on roughly an OC1 connection obviously its not a dedicated connection since its a vitrual container, as for size im not worried, just wondering how its going to be done. and recources are dedicated per container, since it is a Hyper-V server, only virtual aspect is the OS.
