Stuck Authenticating

I searched, but didn't find anything. i haven't searched Steam forums yet but I haven't had the opportunity.

I installed the steam version, uninstalled the pre version, and ran the game. I've been stuck authenticating every time I launched the game. Is this a bug or is the authentication servers down?

I have the same thing. I got it on Steam, do I need to get rid of the original NS2 Engine test to get the Steam one to work?

I had this, if you just want to run around maps you can set it to LAN game and have a play. (If your problem is the same as mine).
