Firing Rifle Causes Crash

<div class="IPBDescription">Firing Rifle Causes Crash to Windows</div> When I attempt to fire the starting rifle as a marine, I am either booted to windows or HL.exe freezes. This seems to also happen if someone else fires a gun around me, but I'm not sure about that. I have reinstalled the newest Via4in1 drivers and the latest C-Media drivers. Has anyone else had this problem or know a fix? NS seems great, but crashing whenever firing a weapon seems to make it a bit less fun <img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' valign='absmiddle' alt='smile.gif'>

This is still happening. I can play as an alien, but when I get near a marine and he fires his rifle, BOOM, NS freezes or boots me to windows. HL.exe is still running in task manager though. Any suggestions or ideas what is going on?

maybe an event problem... do you have HL 1.1.1.0 ?

Yes, I went to Sierra's site and ran their autocheck/autopatch thingy. It said that I had the most recent version. Good suggestion though.

Ok, first, system specs?

Next, is there any error message associated with this boot, or is it just crash to desktop?

Have you tried re-installling NS?

Have you tried re-downloading the file from a different mirror?
