Ns Instantly Resets My Pc

As soon as the console begins to move up after connecting to a server, or even starting a lan game, it instantly resets my computer. i have no idea why this happens, i have not had this problem with any other mods. i have tried reinstalling hl but still the problem persists.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it??

    yes all other 3d games work fine.

    i run it in opengl.

    I looked at your post and i looks familiar to me

    Often happens when your cpu is to hot
    or bad memory

    dont know if its 1 of them in this case

    I remember.. a few months ago, every 2 hours or so my computer would reset..
    Then come to find out one of my 128MB DDR SD-RAM chips had gone bad and when I replaced it, It ran fine.

    This is exactly what happens to me!

    Using Athlon XP 1800 (running at 55 degrees, ~60 when hot), GF3Ti200, Gamesurround Muse XL

    I play lots of HL mods and not one of them does this. Same with my other games, all fine. Also my computer is very stable and hardly ever hangs or resets.

    Whenever I join a game or start a lan game, as soon as the console starts to scroll, I get a blip of sound and then the machine resets itself. Everytime without fail at that precise moment.

    This is using the standard config. It must be incompatible with the sound card.

    you could also have a virus on your computer. I've seen a similar thing with BF1942, it would run fine untill i tryed to get a server list. like something to do with trying to access the net through the program makes it reboot.

    get a virus detector, do a sweep. if u find nothing then i'd say its a heat issue. get a program that monitors your CPU's temp.

    It could be the fact you're using XP and the XP drivers. XP is known to reset the entire system at the *slightest* hint that it's crashed. In most cases, this is when the system is merely at 100%, which happens a lot in NS, and so XP thinks the system has crashed, because the driver isn't responding, so it resets the machine.

    I had the same problem with my Savage4 and drivers on XP, as soon as system went to 100% load, it would reset.

    Try 98, and see if it helps.

    I found your problem! I read somewhere else in these forums, that this sound card was causing people's NS to restart their computers.....     i found the solution

    disable your sound card and use integrated and it works... after i had been doing this for a while though i found some new drivers on the hercules site, and now it all works perfect.

    Entropic Flux go to www.hercules.com and get the latest drivers it should work.

    I get this all the time on all mods even with my comp ingame or out. its definately the sound card, depends on how much sound is playing i guess. until valve fixes the alt-tab sound bug (fixed next update supposedly according to erik from valve) ill have to stick with this hercules musexl. if i try the new sound drivers my sound stutters constantly. as is i cant use voice comm in game.
