Question About Speed...

<div class="IPBDescription">Can a marine outrun a skulk...?</div> OK, I'll try and do this in the most diplomatic way possible in order not to start a flame war.

My question is, when you put a marine and a skulk side by side, which is faster? (regardless of any bunny hopping or other use of 'legitimate exploits' by the marine - and the skulk would be non upgraded)

If I'm not mistaken, (and I'll be damned if I can find it now) but I thought I recall one of the devs saying that a skulk should ALWAYS outrun a marine, since that's how they were designed.

Comments?

Savant

The only way I can think of a marine outrunning a skulk is with a jetpack. And I don't have too much jetpack experience, so I'm not 100% sure on that either.

Yeah I forgot about jetpacks. Yes a jetpack would easily outrun a skulk, and that is to be expected. This question is strictly about 'foot power'.

A skulk out paces a marine, no questions asked.

Also aliens suffer no reduction in speed for moving backwards, marines do, as they do for moving in vents. I'm not sure if fades move slower in vents or not (i know skulks, gorges and lerks move as fast as normal).

Marines seem to have a .. "starting" run problem. Where they start moving but go kind of slow, but pick up pace. I've tried hunting down running marines, and sometimes they can almost outrun me! Also, if they even turn just a little bit, they can strafe and still pick off the skulk.
