What's the status on this? I haven't heard anything about it since that one minute long video two years ago. Which was back on the source engine right? Could we get an updated look?
how can they drop it, I was under the impression that ns2's gameplay is all about territory control and the major indicators on who controls what territory is DI or nano cloud

They wanted to remove it but with the pre-orders they've decided to keep it http://www.unknownworlds.com/ns2/news/2009...ns2_screenshots
I know, they last said we had it. That post was last year, and it links to another post about the infestation that was created in 2006. It seems odd how such a cool amazing feature has been kept quiet.
Well, you could say they keep it so quiet because it's so awesome.
I think this feature will play a big role in further advertisement and getting attention. Dynamic Infestation is just a feature which must fit perfectly and because of that we must have patience. :)
I think its gonna get dropped, or might be released at a later point after release. the thing is I belive that DI is one of the most tricky stuff in this game to get right, espessially with all the entities and stuff attached to it.
I just hope that they've thought of including DI in the alpha, because it's going to be a lot of balancing work for nothing if they just include it later.
I don't understand. They've said it's not going to get dropped - so why would you all assume otherwise simply because nothing has been mentioned since?

They basically feel that they deserve reassurance. It's a human thing, as flawed as it is.
Because of the devs statements that the original DI video was actually running in Max's Spark engine, as well as the mention by them of unexpected masses of pre-orders allowing for the continued inclusion of DI in NS2, I fairly reassured that dynamic infestation will be included and quite awesome in NS2.
I am uncertain as to when an implementation of DI will be shown to anyone. We only have the very old and promising video of it working beautifully on a much younger version of the engine. So try to be reassured.
I'm sure the devs will trumpet the unveiling of it in due time...
Isn't there a alien commander ability which alludes to spreading infestation that we can see in the engine test files? I thought I remember seeing that. I'm sure DI will pop up eventually, that and the fade reveal I'm super excited to see.

What Dev statements? The video clearly says "Over a Halflife 2 BSP level."
I don't know why everyone is freaking out. I never claimed they were removing it. I just want to see how it is going. I find it strange that we know almost nothing about the coolest feature in the game.

Weak evidence. Unless, of course, you're being sarcastic and you know that that particular issue was already addressed.

That is just Max explicitly letting everyone know that DI works on a half life 2 BSP level _as well_. The DI video was shot using the Spark engine.
It is irrelevant though as at the shooting of that video they weren't planning on using Spark. There have been a whole heap of threads about this already, so give it a quick search and read on up if you like.

Totally agreed, and in recent videos they took out also the DI from the NS2 logo that apears at the end (:

Once again, in Charlie's recent post he more than implied it was IN. We HAVE heard from the devs.
Wow... this has all been said many times before. The video is of the HL2 BSP level running in the early spark engine. This was stated in the forum by one of the devs. They also said that the exclusion in the ends of the videos was only because of the extra time it takes, and that is was not dropped. I am curious as to the status of DI as well, but I am sure it won't be too long before we find out.
I really hope they are keeping DI, but everything they've said point to them doing so, so surely its just a matter of time till we find out for definite!

This.
It seemed silly to have like a 20 second long logo outro on a video that was only 25 seconds long, so we decided to create a shortened version, without the DI. ONLY reason why that was done.

--Cory
Annnnnndd........ with that said... SHOW US DI IN THE CURRENT ENGINE PLEASE!!! ZOMG. :D
lol i think this was said already but even if DI was cut from the game... at the rate modders are customizing the engine test now it's only a matter of time before someone creates their own version of DI.

Man don't you guys ever appreciate a surprise once in awhile? With all these constant blog updates, twitter posts and early test builds, by the time the game comes out it will be boring and old. Just have some patience and it will be better when it finally comes out.

Right now they're just working on getting the engine working, which will give us an alpha a lot sooner than working on DI. Just sit tight.
